Self-care will forever be our favourite hobby but we appreciate that recharging and putting yourself first looks different for everyone. Each week, we'll be asking the celeb lot to share their ideal self-care Sunday routines, the hard-working beauty products they recommend to their friends and which TV show they're currently binging…

This week it's all about Abbie Holborn, best known for being fun, glam and downright HILARIOUS on Geordie Shore. She now spends her time DJing and working on her own clothing brand FestiGirl which is full of funky garms worthy of your next festival fit.

Oh, and of course, she did manage to squeeze in some more filming for Geordie Shore’s brand-new, ‘explosive’ reunion series, which Abbie says was ‘crazier than the old series.’

"It was hectic," Abbie tells heat, "I think everyone was apprehensive because no one really knew what to expect or how it was going to go."

So what can we expect from the new Geordie Shore?

"I think this season, there's something for everyone. Every single person in it now - someone can relate to, whether you're like me and you're single in your twenties and trying to figure things out or you're settling down having kids, trying for kids. It has everything going on."

To celebrate the new show, Abbie chats exclusively to heat about her make-up evolution over the years, her hair extension journey and wise advice she lives by…

On self-care

What does the ultimate self-care day look like for Abs?

"If I'm not hungover with my head down a toilet then I will be watching Friend or The Kardashians. I'll have pizza and do my skincare. I'm such a skincare girl, I love my hair and make-up, but I'm obsessed with skincare. If you asked me to choose I'd rather have skincare over make-up any day.

"I've got a face steamer from Amazon for Christmas because I get quite a lot of blackheads and generally have spots if I don't take my make-up off properly. So I'll steam my face for 10 minutes and it comes with all the proper tools, I like squeezing spots. I'll do a full cleanse, tone and face mask. I used to get facials but I thought I could do the same thing at home."

On make-up for the show

Abbie looks incredible on our Zoom call, so what are the make-up products she swears by for filming?

"It's taken a lot of years," Abbie admits. "When I first started, I was absolutely horrendous. I was 19, so the make-up I used was Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation, which was five shades too light. Back then, it was like the more hair, the more tan, the more make-up, the better I felt. I was hiding behind it all and I literally put on ten layers of false tan and wear three pairs of eyelashes as that's where I felt most comfortable.

"At the time, when I was 18/19 and going to town every weekend with my friends, I thought I looked the absolute dog's bollocks. So when I watched myself on TV, I was like ‘Oh god, that looks horrendous. I look really bad.’

"Chloe [Ferry] was saying the other day how my make-up has got so much better and it's honestly because I used to sit and watch everyone do their make-up whilst filming. It used to be four or five weeks at a time and every single night we would be doing a full glam make-up.

"I'm such a MAC girl now, I love the MAC foundation and bronzer. I'm still very much into all my glam and heavy make-up but I've definitely toned it down."

 On budget beauty buys

"I love a body shimmer. I recently bought the Fenty one and it was £50 and I can't believe I spent so much on body oil and I actually lost it when I was away. I swore to never buy really expensive make-up again because it's not worth it when I always lose things. So recently I bought the Barry M Body Shimmer and it's so good and just £6.

"I also can't live without Batiste Dry Shampoo. I have greasy hair naturally, so I go through bottles and bottles. Oh and the NYX Fat Lip Oil in Clear, it’s amazing, I’m wearing it now!"

On daily wellness habits

"Every morning I have the same protein smoothie and I love it. I use vegan chocolate protein powder and then add collagen because I'm 27 this year and feel I need to start taking it.

"I'll also add the FS-Greens Powder in Mango flavour that's everywhere on TikTok at the moment. I couldn't tell you what is in it, but I know it's really healthy!"

On her hair extension journey

Abbie has previously spoken out about how extensive hair extension use over the years has left her with bald patches. She's since been on a journey to get her tresses feeling healthy again.

"I had my extensions out for about four months and only had new ones put back in two weeks ago because I'm going on holiday and wanted to feel really nice again. But I've done so well with my hair and it's grown the most it's ever done. I didn't want to go back on myself, so even though I've got all this hair, I want to keep up doing my hair routine and really look after it. The biggest factor that really helped my hair was to stop putting heat on it.

"I've got some hair masks I'm going to take away with me and I am going to try not to put too much heat on it. I've been loving the K18 hair mask, I had never really heard of it before, but now it's everywhere and they're even using it in salons, so it must be good."

On wise advice

"It's to live in the moment and stop worrying. During my twenties so far, I've really worried badly, I've worried about what everyone else thought of me and there were things I didn't want to do work-wise because I was so scared of what everyone would think. But now I've got a bit older I just think, 'I don't care what anyone else thinks.' It's taken me literally years to get to this position and it's so hard to get your mindset like that, but I feel like I'm there now."
