Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star, aka Glow Up was actual telly gold. Hosted by Maya Jama, the show centred around ten aspiring make-up artists who battled it out to win a huge industry contract. Think Bake Off, but with a lot more glitter.
Runner-up Dolli Okoriko truly stole our hearts thanks to her impressive artistry and now is working with Superdrugto show you lot exactly how to master Halloween make-up this weekend. Oh, and how she created✨THIS✨ Candy Queen lewk.
Yep, we've literally gone to the best. So, whether it's for a party or to scare your BFF on FaceTime (lol) here is everything you need to know about creating a spooky face this Hallows Eve...
Talk us through the Candy Queen Halloween look you have created with Superdrug this year. What products did you use?
This Candy Queen loves all things pink, glam & sweet! I wanted to combine the cuteness of the pink with a bit of an edge so for my look I created a bold face using a range of products in different ways.
I used theNYX Professional Makeup Ultimate Neon Eyeshadow Palette to create the contouring of the face and the NYX Professional Makeup Epic Wear Liners for those delicate details like my sprinkle freckles and the line work.
For the eyes, I again used the NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette for those striking bold colours, and appliedSuperdrug Extra Volume False Eyelasheswith a slick of the [Maybelline Falsie Lash Lift Mascara {href='https://www.superdrug.com/Make-Up/Eye-Makeup/Mascara/Maybelline-Falsies-Lash-Lift-Mascara-01-Black/p/789780?' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer'}) for maximum impact. On the lips, I also used the NYX Linersto line and I finished off my look with theNYX Professional Makeup Milky Gloss .
What are your favourite makeup artist hacks when it comes to Halloween ideas?
My favourite makeup artist hack will have to be to remember it’s Halloween, and there are no rules! Remember that we can use our products in many different ways. That red lipstick in your makeup bag can also be a blusher for your scary clown look! I used the NYX Professional Makeup Epic Wear Liners to line my lips because the colour payoff is incredible and it’s also safe to use... so why not! I love multidimensional make-up.
What are your top five products that are staples in your make-up kit when it comes to Halloween?
My top five products would be the Revolution Ultimate Face Paint Palette, Revolution Creator SFX White Base, B. Pro Longwear Gel Eye Liners, B. Cosmetics Blending Sponge and theRevolution Maxi Reloaded Matte Rainbow Eyeshadow Palette. I love these products so much I feel as if you could create any look with them!
What are your Halloween plans this year with your daughter?
My plans for Halloween this year is to serve up some incredible looks, recreate some really fun and quick Halloween looks with my daughter and enjoy the holiday season with Halloween parties, trick or treating and making toffee apples of course! My daughter is loving Superdrug’s Cubs and Cats look , so it is likely that I will be giving that a go for us both this year! It’s a relatively simple one to recreate, even for beginners, so I would recommend parents give the Cats & Cubs look a go this year!
Is there any makeup that your daughter loves to use as she copies your beauty looks?
My daughter watches me all the time and is always pretending to put make-up on. She’s a little too young to do a full look on herself at the moment, but I’m sure she’ll take after me when she can! I think that the Girls 4 Girls Kids Glitter 4 Days Eye Cream Palette would be a perfect starter palette for her to start getting creative with.
