Perhaps one of Love Island's most iconic contestants of all time, Faye Winter shot to fame for her fiery hot-takes, giving the best advice to her gal pals and her infamous brown lipstick which had the whole nation #influenced. (In case you are wondering, was all thanks to the Mac lipliner in Cork).
Now during heat's Self-Care Sunday chat, Faye opened up about how she has suffered from acne since she was a pre-teen.
"I have had the worst relationship with my skin since I was about 11 years old. I still suffer now and if I use certain products, I still suffer with it, especially on my back and my chest. I try and stick to very natural soaps and I make sure I fully rinse my body and don't put too much perfume directly on my skin. I've got very sensitive skin as well so although I have acne and most people think that with acne, you need to dry your skin out, but my skin just cracks and it's really painful."
Despite Faye sharing during a Q&A when she first left Love Island in 2021 that the subject of skincare was 'too sensitive' to discuss, she has now found a game-changing product that has helped control her acne.
Faye told heat, "I have found the best moisturizer and you can get it from Boots. It's called Dermalex Repair and Restore , and it is just the best thing. There's no scent to it. It's pretty plain, it's pretty boring, but it does the job for me and I've used it now for two years. I don't suffer from the acne on my face anywhere near as much [as I once did]. Don't get me wrong I get the odd breakout, as everyone does and it's normal, but it's good for keeping my spots at bay for sure.
"In the morning I love my Weleda Skin Food as well as my Clinique Moisture Surge , that moisturiser is lovely. But at nighttime, my Dermalex is something that I swear by."

Dermalex is a fragrance-free moisturiser, clinically proven to intensively hydrate skin by locking in moisture and strengthening the skin barrier. Although it's a cream marketed and dry skin and eczema, it's also a brilliant moisturiser for those who suffer from acne.
As Faye points out, it's a myth that you shouldn't moisturise if you have active acne as it will help balance the oil levels in your skin. Although dry skin is not a direct cause of acne, it can encourage the production of more sebum in your skin. The excess oil on your skin can then lead to clogged pores and ultimately acne. Plus, working to heal the skin's barrier will help calm your skin, whilst settling redness and irritation.
One customer wrote, "I had tried almost everything possible on my dry, flaky skin. I was unable to wear makeup as it just cracked and made it more noticeable to other people. This, however, has been my saviour! I have been putting it on morning and night and after a few days, my skin had completely cleared up! definitely worth it!"
