Is there anything more devastating than getting ready for a night out and you see the slow-motion drip of foundation as it falls from the bottle onto your dress? Or maybe you beat your face first, pull your dress over your head and disaster strikes as the foundation skims the collar and leaves a stain. It honestly feel like the night has been ruined.

But stress no more.

After some serious research (just a reason to spend hours scrolling on TikTok tbf) here are the top five, scientifically (not really but sssh) proven TikTok hacks to remove foundation from your clothes.

1. Micellar water

Bear with us guys as this is a LITTLE bit of a tedious procedure, but the results speak for themselves. Grab your cottons pads, cotton buds and micellar water and get soaking.

Check out the below tutorial which guides you through the slightly tedious but successful process.

2. FACE Atelier 'Melt'

There is an ACTUAL product out there which is designed to remove foundation as it apparently melts the product – hence the name, we introduce you to FACE atelier Melt. Just rub the product onto the make-up stain, put it under the tap, do a little scrub, scrub, scrub and the foundation will be gone. It honestly works like magic.

You can also use the Melt product as a good ole' make-up remover and cleanser, it's a little on the pricey side but worth the dollar.

3. Washing up liquid

An oldie but a goodie; grab an old toothbrush and some fairy liquid and get to work. You will of course need a little water to create the bubbles and get the juices flowing but this is a classic method. You might need to chuck the outfit into the washing machine after just to make sure all residue is gone but it’s a popular hack.

4. Shaving Foam

Random but here for it and another product you are likely to have in your bathroom. Coat the make-up mark in shaving cream and grab a damp flannel and start wiping away the shaving foam to reveal a good as new piece of clothing.

5. Baking soda and washing up liquid

This must have been what they used in the olden days. The TikTok video suggests leaving it overnight and putting it in the washing machine, so we must admit this option is not great for immediate results but sometimes slow and steady wins the race.
