Self-care will forever be our favourite hobby but we appreciate that recharging and putting yourself first looks different for everyone. Each week, we'll be asking the celeb lot to share their ideal self-care Sunday routines, the hard-working beauty products they recommend to their friends and which TV show they're currently binging…
This week it's all about Phoebe and Daisy Tomlinson, the younger twin sisters of One Direction's Louis Tomlinson. At just 20 years old, they have amassed a combined Instagram following of 2.3 million followers and regularly share their stylish outfits and beauty favourites. In a huge move, the Tomlinson twins have just teamed up with Boux Avenue to launch their very own edit after being loyal fans of the brand for many years. Spoiler alert: you're going to want everything.
To celebrate, the pair talk exclusively to heat about their favourite pieces, their beauty routine and the wise advice they live by...
Congrats on the Boux Avenue edit - what can we expect?
Daisy: Thank you! We had so much fun working on this edit and feel everything included is so true to our style and love for certain materials. We wanted a premium feel to all the PJs for that perfect relaxed feeling. All the details and designs give off the best festive edge. We cannot wait to see everyone styling these sets and pieces their own way!
Phoebe: The collection varies from pure comfort to a couple of pieces that will make you feel sexy and confident during party season. The pyjamas are to die for.
What are your favourite pieces from the collection?
Phoebe: My ultimate favourite piece is the ribbed modal wide-leg set. Especially the red during Christmas time. They are so soft and slinky.
Daisy: My favourite would have to be the plain ribbed red pj set. It is so comfortable and flattering. It's a very tough decision between that and the aubergine-coloured trouser and vest set. This material is so-so soft. All the pieces are amazing.
What's on your wishlist this year for Christmas?
Phoebe: I’m not usually one to ask for things, but if I do get asked, I usually request wholesome cute things like candles, fluffy socks, chocolate etc…
Daisy: Very cliche but all I want for Christmas is love, happiness, health and lots of good food with my family. Also, The Tomlinson Twins x Boux Avenue should be on your list!
What's your ultimate self-care Sunday routine?
Phoebe: I love Sundays. I love doing anything with my family, from going for a Sunday roast to chilling in the house all day, watching movies and drinking tea. I love to commit to an early evening shower and skincare so that I can spend the evening relaxing in my Boux Avenue pyjamas.
Daisy: My ultimate self-care Sunday routine would be a slow morning. I live for a slow morning in my PJs, a nice home-cooked breakfast and some comfort TV. Maybe go out for a roast afterwards with my family. And then a cosy evening with snacks and candles. Always a cup of tea and some feel-good TV.
What’s your current evening skincare routine?
Daisy: I love a makeup melter, some of my favourites are the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleanser Balm, £36.75 or the Kylie Skin Melting Cleanser, £23.25. That and then a cleanser so I'm double cleansing. I love the Pixi Glow Tonic, £12 applied with a cotton pad. I’m yet to find a moisturiser I love though. This is an unpopular opinion, but when my skin isn’t looking great, I think less products work better.
Phoebe: I like to keep it simple. At the moment, I’m using the Medik8 Face Wash, £24 then a few drops of the Elemis Superfood Oil, £43 followed by a nice moisturiser.
What’s your ultimate budget beauty buy?
Phoebe: I actually really like drugstore makeup because I I like to have a lot of options. The L’Oréal True Match Foundation, £10 is my favourite and so affordable.
Daisy: Everyone always asks what lip liner I wear and it's from Collection in the shade cappuccino, £1.99! I have to buy the more affordable ones because I lose them all the time. This one is amazing.
What’s a make-up tip you swear by at the moment?
Phoebe: I sometimes used to skip out on proper makeup prep, using primer etc… but I’ve found it completely changes the finish of your skin. I love the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Cream.
Daisy: Investing in a good loose powder can actually change the way your makeup looks altogether. My favourite is the Laura Mercier Setting Powder, £27.95. Also, I never used to be a setting spray girly but the Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist, £48 changed everything for me.
What are your ultimate daily wellness habits - from ginger shots to daily walks?
Daisy: Ooh, good question. I would say fresh air is amazing for wellness. I should walk more often but I'm not a fan of the cold! Three meals a day always makes me feel more positive, remember your veggies! And then maybe a good skincare routine and a fresh set of PJs.
Phoebe: I think walks are good for the soul. Even when it’s cold out, it’s nice to get wrapped up and get some fresh air. Olive loves a walk in her buggy!
What's a podcast you swear by?
Phoebe: I really enjoyed podcasts. Steven Bartlett's Diary of a CEO is one of my favourites. I also love mummy podcasts, like Made By Mammas and Happy Mum Happy Baby.
Daisy: I really enjoy the GK Barry podcast, I think she’s hilarious! It always cheers me up. On a more serious note, The Diary of a CEO has taught me so much. I found the way he articulates himself so inspiring.
What’s a quote you're channelling right now and why?
Phoebe: I love ‘It’s not a bad life, it’s just a bad day’. It's one that my brother shared with me a few years ago and it helps me loads when I’m feeling low
Daisy: Me too, I say this quote to anyone close to me going through a hard time. Living by this has really helped me look at things differently and realise not everything is bad.
Quickfire round:
What show are you currently watching?
Phoebe: Me and my partner have been completely obsessed with Married At First Sight UK! It’s really good.
Daisy: I've just finished watching it and now don’t know what to do with my days! I was hooked. So much drama this season.
How do you like your cuppa?
Phoebe: Milk no sugar. I like quite a lot of milk.
Daisy: Milk and no sugar. I like mine medium strength.
Go-to loungewear brand?
Phoebe: Boux Avenue, duh. They really are the best for comfort and style.
Daisy: Boux Avenue, obvs. But in all seriousness, before putting together this edit with them, I went to them for all my loungewear needs. Whether that was a nice pair of slippers or a soft and comfortable pj set
Everyday perfume?
Phoebe: My everyday perfume has to be the Ariana Grande Cloud Perfume, £41! It’s so affordable and smells amazing!
Daisy: I have recently been loving the new Kylie Cosmetics Cosmic scent, £36. However, I actually prefer a manly smell so use my boyfriend’s aftershave most days!
Go-to takeaway order?
Phoebe: This is a tricky one. I love a Chinese takeaway, but I fancy an Indian a lot too.
Daisy: It would have to be a Chinese takeaway. Plain noodles, egg fried rice, sweet and sour chicken and spring rolls.
Favourite candle?
Phoebe: Any wintery ones I love. Cinnamon or frosted berry, especially at Christmas. It creates such a gorgeous atmosphere.
D: Anything The White Company, I am obsessed with. Pomegranate scent is my favourite. My ideal present, whether it’s Christmas or birthdays, would be candles!
