Shoppers say these M&S trainers are being mistaken for high end – here’s why

Taking the M&S website by storm, the Leather Stripe Trainers have amassed hundreds of reviews with their sporty, retro-inspired and streamlined design that has shoppers practically throwing them in their baskets for the summer ahead. With endless styling potential, these trainers have even been compared to the higher-end Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66. Just for a fraction of the price, of course.

While the much-loved vintage trainers generally retail around the £150 mark, M&S have stepped in with a spot-on dupe, bringing an on-trend trainer with the same feel for just £45. Shoppers can't believe it, racing to the comment section with 'Great trainers, very soft and comfy, just been wearing them on holiday a lot, and very happy with the purchase.'

The popular trainers come in cream mix, black mix and red mix, although all colours and sizes are quickly selling out. We don't think these in-demand, highly rated trainers will be around for much longer. Get yours while you still can.

It's not just us who sees the comparison between the Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 trainers, though, right? The original trainers are also made from soft leather and feature an iconic stripe design with pops of colour. Sound familiar? These trainers are all too similar to the sought-after vintage pair.

We can picture the budget M&S trainer dupes with a pair of barrel jeans or bermuda shorts for the summer. We're thinking a laid-back outfit with a mesh shopping bag, maybe even a little headscarf to dress things up. Either way, they have so much styling potential, and these trainers will see you through pretty much any of your casual daytime occasions.

They currently come in cream, black and red - but each colourway is in high demand and sizes are practically flying off the shelves. In our opinion, they won't be around much longer before they're gone for good. Personally, my favourites are the red mix. Unfortunately, though, my size is out of stock. Quite clearly, I wasn't quick enough (!)

As the name suggests, the M&S Leather Stripe Trainers are made from a durable and hardy leather fabric with a breathable mesh detail that makes them endlessly comfortable to wear. They feature the brand's signature antibacterial sole padding with Freshfeet™ technology to minimise odour, and even an Insolia Flex® inner that allows flexibility on the balls of your feet.

In short? Ridiculously comfortable. Customers can't help but agree, with loads praising their soft, comfortable and lightweight feel. Another shopper commented, 'So comfortable and looks great with a variety of outfits. These trainers are great value, and I get compliments every time I wear them! Not too bulky and can be dressed up or down - highly recommend.' It's no surprise that the internet is currently going wild over these affordable trainers.

If you want to get in on the hype, we suggest you do so soon. We're not sure how much longer they'll be around for, and with them selling like hot cakes, we're convinced they'll sell out by the end of the month. Shop these trendy Leather Stripe Trainers - while they're still there.
