Laura Puddy, style editor @laura_puddyThis dress is giving me Daily Sleeper vibes (check them out on insta). Being curvier, I'm always conscious of creating too much volume but this has the right amount of sleeve oomph without being OTT. I've pulled sleeves off-the-shoulder to create balance and heels complete any look for me!Dress (similar): Belted Puff Sleeve Midi Dress, &OtherStories, £50Shoes: Square Toe Mules in Beige, ASOS, £32

Jazz Harris, assistant style editor @jazzieharrisI thought I'd go full tonal with my puff sleeve look and absolutely love the result. Being 4ft11, I always worry about certain trends coming across childish on me so i wanted to balance the cute puff sleeves with a tailored bottom for a more grown up feel. Plus heels of course for extra inches.Top: Y.A.S Shirred Top, ASOS. £16Shorts: Topshop Belted City Short, ASOS, £35

Racheal Martin, style writer @thebretonbirdI love a puff sleeve but I always have to balance out the added volume. The shirred waist on this playsuit is great for doing just that as it enhances the smallest part of my body. I have teamed with sandals and a straw bag for the perfect for the pub garden look.Playsuit: Puff-sleeved Playsuit, H&M, £15

Make it work for you

If you want to accentuate or create the illusion of an hourglass, defining the waist is key. Make this the focal point of your outfit by choosing a top or dress that has a fitted element to it.

Want to balance out your shape? Draw the eye away for the area you'd rather not focus on - the length of sleeve and amount of volume is key here.

If you're conscious of your bottom half, puff sleeves and an open neckline are ideal for keeping the focus up top.
