Welcome to Jazz’s Short Stories: Online Edition. If you’re a fan of heat Style Book, you’ll already be familiar with my ramblings about being 4ft11 in fashion, and, if not, it’s about time you improved your reading material. All jokes aside this, is a place where I share my shopping tips and styling tricks for those of us whose portions run on the petite side. And, if you're not petite think of them as a few tricks for making the most of your supermodel stature. Let's get shopping...
I may be committing fashion blasphemy for saying this, but I couldn’t be happier that winter is nearly over and I can pack away my knits and coats for another year. While I love the look of winter dressing, the trends don’t always translate easily for my petite frame, whereas this season the spring/summer catwalks have provided the perfect opportunity for a wardrobe refresh.
From the rise of colour block column dressing that instantly gives the illusion of extra inches, to the return of the mini skirt, which means there’s no chance of being plagued by too long bottoms - this season is a haven for the vertically challenge.
So, here are my must-buy items that'll see you easily into spring and give your wardrobe a warm weather refresh, as well as a few tips and tricks, to make styling them short work – you’re welcome!

1. Clever Cut Outs
My biggest struggle being petite is that I occasionally (read: regularly) get mistaken for a school child. Cut outs are a great way to combat this as they can be cleverly placed to show off and sculpt curves for a grown-up feel.

Y2K fashion is big news right now and if there’s one piece I’m very happy to see the return of it’s the mini skirt. Ideal for making legs look extra-long, pair with sky high platforms for even more inches.

For Spring/Summer the catwalks were filled with models rocking one colour head-to-toe. This is great for us petite gals as it creates a column effect drawing the eye downwards and elongating the body.
