Welcome to Jazz’s Short Stories: Online Edition. If you’re a fan of heat Style Book, you’ll already be familiar with my ramblings about being 4ft11 in fashion, and, if not, it’s about time you improved your reading material. All jokes aside this, is a place where I share my shopping tips and styling tricks for those of us whose portions run on the petite side. Get ready to make short work of getting dressed…

I don’t know about you, but I am so over Winter dressing. Jumpers and jogging bottoms may be cosy but for me nothing makes me want to get dressed more than bright colours, light dresses and the occasional pair of cycling shorts for those days when comfort is key. So, I couldn’t be happier that the clocks have finally changed, not just because it promises longer days and hopefully some sunshine, but also because it’s the perfect time to get my wardrobe in the mood for Spring.

For us petite girls the trends don’t always translate easily into styles that suit us rather than swamp us, but luckily this year things are on our side. So, here’s my pick of the best buys to invest in this season to ensure you enter Spring in style.

1. The Shirred Dress

Inspired by designer brand Sleeper, these dresses are perfect for petite gals as they fit and flare in all the right places. Look out for styles with clever leg splits to make your legs look even longer.

2. The Bright Blazer

These are a spring must buy for EVERYONE, not just those whose proportions run on the small side. If you are petite however avoid styles named dad or oversized as these tend to fit larger swamping our shape.

3. The Boy Boxer

I saw blogger @LauraJadeStone wearing boy style boxer shorts so I bought boy style boxer shorts. But for real, these shorts are amazing: they’re high waisted (hello longer looking legs), elasticated (no gaping waistband) and best of all comfy.

4. The Chunky Sandal

I used to avoid chunky sandals for fear they’d look out of proportion with my body. Recently, I’ve learnt the trick however – avoid pairing them with skinny jeans or trousers, instead, wear straight jeans or full dresses to balance the look.
