It might be grey and dark outside, which is why this is the best time to inject some colour and cosiness into your home.
We spoke to interiors writer and content creator Lisa Dawson, who is working with Disney Home on their latest collection, to find out why adding some low cost updates and bringing playful elements into your rooms can lift your mind and be comfy on your bottom, too.
Boost your happiness with interiors
Lisa says, "When you walk into a room you want it to make your heart lift and make you feel happy. Create those moments in our spaces that make us feel really positive. Candles for cosy lighting, rugs underfoot, weighted blankets which are proven to give you that feeling of calmness, and layer up textiles to get a really cocooning spot on the sofa."
Be playful with interiors
Lisa says, "It’s so important to have that bit of fun and quirkiness which will make you smile when you walk into the room. It could be a piece of art or one of Disney’s Mickey shaped cushions – anything which adds interest."
Shop your house
Lisa says, "Moving things around is actually my favourite thing to do – as my family will tell you! Try switching a few items out, but you can shop your own home to bring items in from other rooms. Those small things will make your space feel refreshed without adding anything new."
Restyling as mindfulness
Lisa says, "I find re-styling a room or even just a shelf can be hugely therapeutic and gives you that outlet to get creative. Be a bit brave with it and don’t worry about it looking ‘perfect’. It’s about how that room makes you feel. Your house doesn’t have to look like a magazine, it just has to make you feel happy."
