As well as having the most rad outfits, Clueless also taught us some very important wordage to use against frenemies, potential boyfs, ‘rents and teachers.

All of these 90s words-slash-phrases are still totally relevant and way less annoying than ROFL etc. To celebrate the 20th birthday of Clueless (WHAT) we thought we’d resurrect some of our faves.

Fancy spitting some Cher? Take a leaf out of our maje Betty’s book and Clueless up your life..

Betty: A gorgeous, beautiful woman with classic Hollywood style and sleek looks.

Riding the crimson wave: Want to tell a bloke you’re on your period? Done. Also, a way of explaining major PMT.

Monet: Like the painting, when something looks great from a distance but a total mess up close.

Buggin’: When you’re having a major freak out about something. Eg, “I forgot I have a meeting and now I’m buggin’.”

Duchess: A proper, sophisticated girl.

Duke: A proper, sophisticated boy.

Postal: When your BFF is losing her crap, going nuts, being a bit cray – she’s going postal.

Baldwin: A totally beautiful man. Or a way of describing a cute item.

Wig Out: Same as postal.

Wiggins’: makes you feel creepy. Eg, “That boy is gives me the wiggins’.”

As if: An exclamation of total disbelief.

Barney: A man with unfortunate looks.

Duckie: Something (or someone) that’s super cute.

Laying in the cut: Hanging out!
