It’s hard to believe that last night was Kate Middleton’s first state banquet. We thought she must have been to about a hundred. One a week, surely?
The Chinese president Xi Jinping is over having a state visit and last night enjoyed a fancy banquet with the Queen, Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge and other very important people.
We were (obviously) more excited about seeing what the Duchess would wear and we weren’t disappointed by her choice. Kate chose a festive red Jenny Packham flared gown with a lace bodice and capped sleeves. Double diamond bracelet cuffs and earring added sparkle, as did her rather fabulous tiara.
To make sure her tiara was standout (as if it could be anything else) Kate swept her long brunette hair up into a chic low bun.
Prince William looked very smart in a formal suit, accompanying his beautiful wife in the car on the way into the banquet.
Sadly, little Prince George and Princess Charlotte didn’t attend. To be fair, it would probably have been a mega bore for them.
