Lady Gaga and her Pokerface exploded onto the music – and fashion – scene in 2008 with her debut album ‘The Fame’.
Signing a record deal after dropping out of the New York institution Tisch School of the Arts, Gaga now has over 140 million worldwide single sales (April 2015), her own perfume and 12 Guinness World Records under her belt...she is not a woman to be messed with.
When she first became famous many people only recognised her for the crazy hair ‘dos and even crazier outfits that secured her as a tabloid favourite, but as the years have gone on, and her hair has lost some of its gravity defying height, we’ve seen a total style transformation of everybody’s favourite little monster.
First hitting hit the red carpets in ’08, jaws dropped and eyebrows were raised at Gaga's, lets say eccentric, style. The Bad Romance star has made some questionable fashion choices (we all remember the meat dress…) over the years, but she has always tried to support young or new designers such as Rebecca Short and Christian Cowan-Sanluis.
Gaga has now begun presenting herself in a new, sophisticated light that, while demure, still manages to show off the style and creativity that made her so famous at the beginning. Her new chic style is definitely a much better representation of the near 30 year old than the puffball skirts and mega-lashes that were a staple in the early days of her career.
With that in mind, it's only fitting that Lady Gaga’s first major look of 2016, at the Golden Globes, was pure Hollywood glamour. The black, off the shoulder, Versace gown she wore was a million glamorous miles away from the perma-tanned and latex clad Gaga we were introduced to almost a decade ago... long may she reign!
