Once upon a time, people gave short shrift to colour-clashing. Navy and black? No no no! Pink and red? You’d better be joking!
But, it’s the first week of 2017 and it’s dull outside, so let’s inject some fresh new colours into our wardrobe.
We know, we know: experimenting with bright colours can be daunting but that’s no excuse to stick to the usual all-black outfit.
So, if this 2017 you’re aiming to wear more colour, we’re here to help point out some fresh (and daring) colour combinations.
They’ll brighten your day – and others – for sure.
Pink and red
What did we see masses of during the the SS17 fashion shows? Pink and red, worn together. YES! It was a favourite with the likes of Celine, Givenchy and Miu Miu. And if it’s good enough for them; it’s good enough for us. A shot of pink can throw a palette of harsh red into gentler relief, while a girlish pink can be brought back from the ‘90s by bright scarlet.
Green and purple
Purple and forest green might not sound like a match made in heaven at first, but Versace styled it AMAZINGLY and sparked our love for it off. A strong purple can look super striking with a dark forest green.

Blue and red
Now, we can hear you already. Blue and red? Really? But the likes of Celine, Alberta Ferrari and Miu Miu were all over this combination. Take it slowly by taking Celine’s example. A blue shirt dress and a pop of red sock looks SO GOOD. Work your way up to a boot, and you won’t be looking back.

Purple and pink
Balenciaga made us see that this colour combination doesn’t have to be garish. In fact, it can look downright fab. These two pretty shades can be combined to create some chic looks that are sure to rid you of those winter blues.

Pink and orange
Pink and orange are similar; they sit near each other on the colour wheel, so when paired together they can appear aggressive and often jarring. But if you pair them subtly and in a delicate fabric like lace, you’ll hit the right spot. The likes of Bora Aksu did something similar for SS17 and the clothes looked beautiful.
