What do you do when you’ve worn all of your jeans already and you just don’t fancy a flirty skirt? It’s a toughy but we reckon if you had a pair of culottes in your ‘drobe you’d have the answer…

Cool-ottes, as we like to call them, are the perfect solution to outfit woes this season. Tailored and loose, the ideal pair will sit snuggly on the waist then lick out in a soft flare.

And they’re versatile, too! Worn with a loose tee tucked in and chucky boots, they will rock daytime casj and then totally date-ready with pointy heels and a slinky cami.

Team with khaki and black to toughen

As much as we love culottes and want to wear them straightaway without a second though, like* The Hunger Games*, there are rules to abide by.

#1

Unless you're a petite mod bod, always wear with a heel. We’re not talking Kardashian-style sky-high stilettos (though they would look HAWT). A pair of block-heeled booties would look equally as good. Flats will shorten legs thus creating unfair stumpy calves.

#2

Balance your baggy bottom-half with a sleek top. A cami or luxe tee works best while a denim shirt will up your style utilitarian points. All tucked-in to reclaim your shape. If you are blessed with a Kylie Minogue figure then try throwing on an oversized fine knit, adding a belt over to cinch the waist.

#3

It’s all about the texture. Luxury satin, twill khaki and heavy denim are all the major winners in the culottes game.
