She's always one step ahead, that one...
It wouldn't have been London Fashion Week without a few stylish appearances from Brit style icon Alexa Chung. Of all her LFW looks this retro-inspo ensemble was our total fave. Worn to sit on the FROW at Topshop Unique Alexa stood out from her fash pals thanks to a dollop of high street styling.
With the 60s playing a major role next season (sozzles 90s, you're time is almost up - again), Chung showed us how to work the throwback trend without needing to hit a charity shop. Because, let's face it, musky old armpit frocks just aren’t something we need in our lives.
One HUGE and yet oh-so-small piece a dedicated swinger (we mean that is a 60s chic way, not the rude way) needs is a mini skirt. Throw out tube skirts for now. The 60s mini sits on the waist and flares out in a structured A-line fashion. For a modern take make like Chung and choose one with a fierce print or texture.
Eek! Turtlenecks? Really?!
Yep. The very hard to wear turtleneck is essential to really nail this trend. We admit, these babies aren't friends of big boobs. In fact, they're all out enemies. But if you have a mid-range babylons or small, a long sleeved turtleneck is a must for AW14.
Finally, once you’ve got your mini and top sorted you’re gonna need some 60s finishing touches. Always opt for flat smart shoes or low block heels and a boxy mini bag. Add some liquid liner feline flicks to your eyes and a slick of nude lippy…et voila! Austin Powers SO would, baby.
