Alison Hammond may be looking amazing at the moment, but despite her gorgeous glow-up over the past couple of years, sources have revealed the star is feeling under pressure to stay looking good. And after interviewing age-defying stars such as Demi Moore, Kylie Minogue and Gillian Anderson, friends of the presenter say she is looking into new ways to keep up appearances.
‘Alison has confessed that she’s really been feeling the pressure lately to stay looking young and ultra-glam on TV’, says an insider. ‘Her career has gone into overdrive in the past few years, and she’s had a complete image overhaul with her amazing weight loss and style switch-up. But now she has confessed that she’s secretly panicking about how to maintain it all.'
Alison, 49, has lost 11st after overhauling her diet, cutting out sugar and working out regularly with a personal trainer. But despite being in the best shape of her life, her approaching milestone birthday next February is said to be fuelling the star’s insecurities and friends are now worried about how far she could go to maintain her youthful looks.
‘Alison knows that the world of TV – especially daytime TV – can be brutal for women of a certain age, as you’re expected to look a particular way and always appear flawless, like Cat Deeley and Amanda Holden. Alison is feeling confident right now and is proud of the weight she’s lost – but she can’t help looking over her shoulder a lot of the time,’ we’re told.
The insider continues, ‘What’s made it worse is the fact that Alison comes face to face with so many Hollywood stars who have obviously had work done, and they’re often surprisingly candid about it with Alison off-camera, as she can charm just about anyone. Seeing Demi Moore in the flesh recently was mind-blowing. She’s 62, but she could pass for a woman in her late thirties – and Alison just doesn’t know if she’s going to be able to keep up her glam look over the course of the next few decades.’
Alison’s romance with 27-year-old Russian model and masseur David Putman is also a key factor in her exploring the idea of surgery. We’re told, ‘It doesn’t help that she’s now dating someone a lot younger than her, either, as everyone is talking about her keeping up with her toyboy. When she’s alone with him and the cameras are off, Alison likes to remove all her make-up and wear more casual and comfy clothes, but now she’s thinking she should be making more of an effort to be glam and “on” all the time. And because she’s meeting so many celebrities who see plastic surgery as the norm, it’s worrying her friends, because they don’t want her caving to that kind of pressure.’
Alison’s youthful looks have led to speculation that she may have already had tweakments, with experts claiming that she could have had fillers, chemical peels or even a non-surgical facelift. However, the telly star has never admitted to having any work done, except for a gastric band – which she later had removed before going on to lose weight through diet and exercise.
‘Her friends have begged her not to mess with her looks as they’ve said once you have something done, you often have to keep getting little procedures here and there and you end up addicted to it or massively regretting what you’ve had done,’ the insider says.
‘Alison has promised not to go all Hollywood and stay true to herself, but she’s said she would be lying if she didn’t feel the pressure. She is constantly exposed to all these amazing-looking women who are a lot older than her, and it makes Alison really tempted to get a little work done f or subtle improvements here and there.’
The source adds, ‘She knows it’s a slippery slope, but sometimes it feels like whatever you do to make yourself look better in the spotlight, it never seems enough.’
