Caroline Flack has found herself in a Twitter spat with Jameela Jamil, after the Good Place actress called out Caroline for accepting the role of being the host of Channel 4's new reality TV show The Surjury.

The show's premise revolves around members of the public appealing to a "jury" of strangers to pick them to have plastic surgery, after they have heard their stories as to why they want the work to be carried out.

Taking to the social media site to slam the programme, Jameela wrote, "Welp. Black Mirror is officially happening guys. It’s here."

Jameela then tweeted Caroline directly, after a doctor replied to Jameela's tweet, saying he had been approached to appear on the show but turned it down as they couldn't "believe any ethical doctor would be involved."

She wrote, "This is why I said it was like Black Mirror @carolineflack1 Because it’s a VERY surreal concept that (perhaps unintentionally) will prey on people’s insecurities.

"I think of the effect on teenagers of the messaging of this. Fingers crossed it doesn’t affect anyone negatively."

The Love Island host then replied to the Hollywood star, saying, "As you know self image is a complicated, sensitive and personal subject.

"At the heart of this show are people not contestants who have sought help to want to better them selves in their own eyes."

She scathingly added, "Their stories deserve to be told and not ridiculed online."

Channel 4 have since defended commissioning the programme, following the criticism the broadcaster got, after announcing the show's arrival to our TV screens.

They said, "Rather than wag a disapproving finger, this new series looks at who wants it, and why – and allows those who make a strong enough case to their peers, to undergo the procedure of their choice.

"The show will neither glamorise nor condemn their choices: the aim is instead to interrogate the realities. All contributors featured in the series have actively been seeking surgery of their own accord."
