She’s already one of the most famous women in Britain, and shares a £150m fortune with her husband Wayne. But rather than taking it easy at the family’s mega-mansion, Coleen Rooney has chosen to head Down Under to compete in the upcoming series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.
And while sources tell heat that the WAG is excited to show viewers what she’s made of, she’s also nervous about opening herself up to public scrutiny – and part of her is questioning whether she’s made a mistake by signing up.
‘Although Coleen is very excited about doing the show, she does have worries. She’ll be completely out of her comfort zone and anxious about the fact she doesn’t know who will be joining her,’ says an insider close to Coleen, who made an enemy of fellow WAG Rebekah Vardy in the infamous Wagatha Christie drama.
The source continues, ‘She prides herself that she can get on with most people, but producers want drama, and she’s worried they could put someone in there specifically to wind her up. She’s also quite private and knows she will be exposed and vulnerable in the jungle. She is very strong and can handle most situations, but she’s hoping this doesn’t backfire. She couldn’t bear it if it was all a huge mistake and she came out looking bad.’
Coleen, 38, has been a stay-at-home mum for most of the past 15 years, and currently lives in Cheshire with children Kai, 14, Klay, 11, Kit, eight, and Cass, six, while husband Wayne, 38, is based in Devon after taking over as manager of football team Plymouth Argyle. And our source says this is adding to her worries about heading to Australia to appear on TV.
We’re told, ‘The jungle is something that Coleen has been asked to do repeatedly, but she never felt the it was the right time. But the latest offer was too good to turn down and she’s keen to branch out a bit now the boys are older. But she is nervous – it’s a long time to be away from Wayne, even though they aren’t living together full-time at the moment because of his football commitments. She really needs him to step up with the boys and support her, as she has supported him throughout his career.’
Despite her fears, Coleen – who is reportedly receiving the highest-ever fee, topping Nigel Farage’s £1.5million last year – is determined to go all the way and beat fellow WAG Rebekah, 42, who was the third celeb to be voted out when she appeared on the ITV show in 2017.
‘Coleen is a pretty tough cookie, as she has shown these past few years, and she just wants to start having fun,’ our source says. ‘She feels she can go further than Rebekah and have the public on her side from the beginning. Despite being married to a footballer and living a life of luxury, Coleen is still very down to earth and isn’t afraid to muck in –she’ll be the perfect campmate.’
