Following months of speculation about his relationship with celebrity partner Maura Higgins, Dancing On Ice professional skater Alexander Demetriou split from his wife and co-star Carlotta Edwards last month and while the Love Island star continues to insist they’re just friends, reports claim Carlotta blames Maura for the breakdown of her marriage.
Carlotta, who removed her wedding ring and flew back to her native Canada in the wake of the split, has allegedly been telling friends that she “doesn’t believe” Alexander’s claim that he doesn’t have romantic feelings for Maura and was left hurt by suggestions of jealousy.
A source told The Sun, “Carlotta is devastated and hurting from her split with Alex.
“She’s upset by his accusations of jealousy and doesn’t believe he didn’t have romantic feelings for Maura.”
“As far as she’s concerned they were happy, then she came on the scene and their marriage fell apart,” the source continued.

Alexander confirmed he was no longer with Carlotta last month by releasing a statement on social media.
He told his followers, “I’m sorry I have been quiet on social media recently but it’s been a tough time personally for me. Carlotta and I have separated.
“Although it saddens me that we can no longer be together, I feel this is best for the both of us. I’m looking forward to what the future will bring but in the meantime let’s all stay home and stay safe. Alex xx.”

Alexander and Maura were first linked after they were paired together for Dancing On Ice in January but speculation grew when he was pictured leaving her Essex home.
Addressing the photos in a furious tweet, Maura wrote, “2020 and yet again a man and woman cannot be friends! Me and Alex are friends and Joe and I are friends! YES, I have more male friends than female! GET OVER IT!!!”
She refuted the rumours once again in a fan Q&A on Instagram when asked, “What do you think about the stories the press have said about you and Alex?”
Maura replied, “Again, it doesn’t bother me. “We’re in 2020 and a man and a woman still cannot just be friends. Pure sh--e, you know?”
