Demi Lovato has spoken out about her drug overdose since it happened two weeks ago. The 'Sober' singer, who has always been honest with her addiction struggles, has released a statement to her fans to continue her open attitude towards her problems and keep her fans informed.
After being rushed to hospital on 24th July, there were reports that Demi "almost died," but thankfully she received medical attention and was taken to hospital.
She has now taken to her social media pages to release a statement in a post which has already had nearly 5 million likes in the 12 hours it's been online. It reads, 'I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction.
'What I've learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet.
'I want to thank God for keeping me alive and well. To my fans, I am forever grateful for all your love and support throughout this past week and beyond. Your positive thoughts and prayers have helped me navigate through this difficult time.'
She continued, 'I want to thank my family, my team, and the staff at Cedars-Sinai who have been by my side this entire time. Without them I would be here writing this letter to all of you.
'I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery. The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side.
'I will keep fighting. Demi.'
Fans have commented on the photo to send their best wishes and love, with many simply writing comments of emoji love hearts.
One wrote, 'You're strong Demi. All your fans will be there to support you. We send you all the love you deserve!' as another commented, 'I love you, I'm so happy that you're getting better, always be careful of yourself,' and another added, 'So proud of you and your positivity in this hard time.'
This come after Demi's backing dancer, Dani Vitale, spoke out about what happened. She too wrote a statement on Instagram which urged Demi's fans to keep supporting her and avoid posting nasty comments online.
