If you didn’t already know, Ed Sheeran is the BIGGEST fan of ketchup. He has himself admitted that he puts it on every single meal, including his CHRISTMAS dinner! So when we heard that the Heinz Tomato Ketchup superfan had done a collaboration with the iconic brand, we had to look it up.
And yes, it's true. You can now buy ‘Edchup’, a special edition ketchup bottle featuring a label inspired by him, in EVERY major supermarket in the UK. This really is a collaboration we never thought we'd see and the advert is even better than expected!
The advert is Ed's own concept based on his experiences of asking for his favourite Heinz Tomato Ketchup in fancy restaurants. It starts by him walking into a VERY fancy restaurant with his trademark chequered shirt and backpack in tow. He then gets given the poshest food we have even seen (and probably so expensive)!
Hilariously, Ed then get's out a bottle of ketchup from his bag and lathers it everywhere, much to the despise of the restaurant's staff and chef. You NEED to watch it!
But how does such a thing come about when, the singer, who has just announced a full album of collaborations with some of the most famous people on this planet, is a very busy man?
Well, he sent Heinz a message on Instagram by uploading a picture of him holding one of their bottles. Wearing one of his trademark caps, he captioned the image, 'Yo @heinz I have an idea for a tv ad if you wanna do one, if not I won’t be offended, I could never be mad at you. Slide in my DMs or have your people call my people. Lots of love, your biggest fan x'. [sic].
And within a matter of months, the company had made Ed's dream come true by featuring him as the main face of his own TV ad!
We love this story!
