You won’t believe what MAFS Australia’s Elizabeth Sobinoff looks like now

We hardly recognised the Married At First Sight star

Elizabeth Sobinoff

When she appeared on season six of Married At First Sight Australia, we remember Elizabeth Sobinoff with her long, straight platinum blonde locks. But after filming the show nearly four years ago, the star has made a total transformation...

We almost didn't recognise her.

Before joining the cast of MAFS Australia, Lizzie was the manager of a jewellery store in Sydney and was scouted for the series just a few days after landing the manager job.

She was matched up with cast member Sam Ball, who during his time on the show stirred up a little bit of controversy... firstly by making comments about Elizabeth's weight and then after he cheated on her fellow cast mate Ines Basic, both of which he claimed were scripted by producers.

However, commenting on her time spent married to Sam Ball on the show, Lizzie set the record straight on her Instagram:,"You know the story of me being body shamed, cheated on etc. Stop glorifying a f---ing ‘transformation’ that is assumed to be from the result of a loser."

Obsessed.

Well, in Lizzie's words she might not have had a transformation but she's ditched the platinum blonde and looks almost unrecognisable as a brunette.

As well as changing up her hair colour, the Married At First Sight star has experimented with texture as she tries out beachy waves.

We have to say... we're LOVING the darker hair on her.

While Elizabeth didn't have the dream love match she signed up for with season six, she returned as a cast member a year later where thing went a little differently...

Being matched up with Seb Guilhaus on season seven was a game changer, and the couple even stayed together after the series, where their relationship went from strength to strength.

Sadly, after a year of dating the couple agreed to mutually split (possibly due to long distance and conflicting schedules), but Elizabeth seems to be doing better than ever as shown by her feed on the 'gram.

Now, Lizzie is an influencer, brand representative and model living her best life in Sydney. As for comments on her transformation, she's got one thing to say, "Let’s start applauding doing well at life and learning and growing and taking time to look after yourself and allowing beautiful people into your life."

Well said.

Susie had a rollercoaster of a ride on MAFS. Her husband was trying it on with Jessika, she was supposedly trying it on with Jessika's husband Mick - you couldn't write this stuff.

Is Married At First Sight scripted?

While it's not necessarily scripted, there's been speculation around whether the matches are made with an intention for couples to find love or just to make good TV.

MAFS Australia's very own Melissa Lucarelli revealed all, "We want to see fights and fall-outs too, or we’re going to turn off the TV."

We can only guess that while it's not scripted, some couples will certainly be matched for a reason... and not always the right ones.

Do the couples on Married At First Sight actually get married?

So, the name of the show is SLIGHTLY misleading as the cast don't actually get legally married.

A spokesperson for the show revealed that they essentially have a wedding party without the whole marriage part.

After the show, however, some make that decision for themselves as we've seen with Martha Kalifatidis and Michael Brunelli who are now officially engaged. Maybe not so misleading after all?
