Love Island 2017's Georgia Harrison has spoken out in support of the show; claiming it's 'not fair' to blame producers for the tragic death of co-star Mike Thalassitis.
The reality show faced criticism after Mike was found hanged in a park near his Essex home last month; with former islanders including Dom Lever and Jonny Mitchell questioning the quality of aftercare on offer to contestants.
But now - after attending Mike's funeral earlier this month - Georgia has deemed the show's support system 'amazing' and urged people not to have 'preconceived opinions' over the cause of Mike's death.
Speaking to heatworld about her experiences at the launch of MTV's The Challenge: War of the Worlds, Georgia said: "Personally, in terms of production within Love Island, they’ve always been amazing with me. They’ve always been really supportive. I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunities they’ve given me.
Adding that she doesn't believe Mike's tragic death is the fault of Love Island producers, Georgia added: "I feel sorry for the production coming under target at the moment. I know a lot of it obviously revolves around Mike [Thalassitis], but no one knows what he was going through at the time and people shouldn’t have preconceived opinions on it.
"Only he knows how he felt at the time and it’s not fair to blame Love Island at all. I’m really happy with the aftercare, personally."
This all comes after Love Island 2018 star Georgia Steel recently explained that producers provided her with an 'open phone' line should she need support.
Speaking to heatworld, she said: "I always knew that there was an open phone there. I think it’s different for every individual.
"For me, I always knew I had it there if I needed it."
