Who isn’t a sucker for a happy ending? Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck finally tied the knot over the weekend, speaking “good things come to those who wait” into existence.
The power couple, who have a relationship history dating back two decades, eloped to Las Vegas and tied the knot in a drive-through chapel – a “tunnel of love”.
J-Lo, 52, announced the long-awaited news in her newsletter on Sunday and signed off as Jennifer Lynn Affleck.
“Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient,” she gushed.
Of course, the megastar is alluding to her first romance with Ben, 49. They originally began dating in July 2002 and were engaged four months later.
But back then, Bennifer was not destined to be. Their September 2003 wedding was cancelled with just days to go, which led to the couple later calling off their engagement in January 2004.
“I think different time, different thing, who knows what could've happened, but there was a genuine love there,” Jennifer said at the time.
True love always prevails. In what J-Lo described as “the best night of their lives”, the newlyweds, who reunited last July and got engaged in April, stood in line for the licence with four other couples and were married just after midnight at the Little White Chapel.
“Stick around long enough and maybe you’ll find the best moment of your life in a drive through in Las Vegas at 12.30 in the morning and at the tunnel of love drive through, with your kids and the one you’ll spend forever with. Love is a great thing, maybe the best of things – and worth waiting for,” J-Lo added in her newsletter.
The bride has since flashed her new wedding ring on Instagram, only sparking further social media mania. “You are glowing Mrs Affleck!” one wrote. Say it louder for the people at the back!
