A serious investigation

Jess Shears and Dom Lever caused absolute Twitter meltdown this morning when they held a Valentine’s Day wedding LIVE on Good Morning Britain. The ceremony was officiated by GMB’s Richard Arnold but the big question everyone’s asking is whether the marriage is legally official or not, so we at heatworld decided to do some sleuthing.

Viewers were baffled by the wedding, with one user tweeting: “I’m really confused is this whole Jess and Dom wedding thing real or a piss about??”

Jess has since taken to Twitter to provide some sort of clarification. “So many people getting their knickers in a twist this morning about mine and @_DomLever Valentines Wedding on @GMB We had such a laugh and can’t wait for the REAL wedding now in October #learntotakeajokekids,” she wrote. The pair had previously hinted on the show that another ceremony would take place in Mykonos later in the year.

As buildings have to be legally sanctioned to host a wedding and the ITV studio where the nuptials took place is not, it looks like Jess and Dom can’t call legally call themselves husband and wife just yet.

According to the very offish GOV UK website, you can only get married in venues that are “approved by the local council” and the ITV studio where the nuptials took place doesn’t appear on the list of approved venues in the Borough of Lambeth, where it is based.

Surprisingly it looks like it’s been cleared up by Nadia Essex of all people. The Celebs Go Dating star and love guru was in the GMB studio at the time and later tweeted: “It wasn’t legally binding thank goodness.”

So the whole thing looks like Jess and Dom having a laugh at our expense (and trending on Twitter while they’re at it) but it’s caused some serious dramz among the Love Island cast who have had a lot to say about the first (sort of) Love Island wedding.

Series 2 winner Cara de la Hoyde tweeted: “Surely this years lot are all just on a massive windup with us all 👀” while Olivia Buckland shadily said: “Usually when I don’t comment on something I am just speechless. It’s better to be speechless,” alongside a peace emoji.

Jess and Dom have both hit back, telling all their haters to “learn to laugh and have a joke people.
