Following the success of her best-selling memoir last October, Britney Spears’ story is coming to the big screen, after Universal Pictures landed the rights to turn it into a biopic. And while we couldn’t be more excited, there’s someone who’s dreading it: Brit’s ex, Justin Timberlake.
The Woman In Me dropped a string of explosive bombshells about their relationship, including that Brit had an abortion because Justin didn’t want to be a father. So, it’s no surprise that he’s feeling nervous about his portrayal in the movie, with sources revealing he’s been having crisis talks with wife Jessica Biel.
“There’s no question that Justin and Britney’s relationship is going to be covered in the movie version of her tell-all book, and he is already freaking out about it,” an insider tells heat. “Both Justin and Jessica have been having tense talks about what the biopic will mean for them and their family. They already found the release of the book difficult to deal with, now the idea of Justin being portrayed in a bad light on the big screen is just a step too far for them both.
“There were some really awful things in the book – both Justin and Jessica feel very sad and sensitive about this being put into film. He’s definitely considering getting his lawyers involved – the book was one thing, but the movie is another. He’s worried about people believing everything they see and his own children one day growing up to read and watch it all.”
Justin, 43, who dated Britney, 42, from 1999 to 2002, is also said to be worried about how it will affect his career. It has not been a good year for the star, with his lacklustre musical comeback followed by an arrest for drink-driving. “Justin has his own movie career as an actor to think about and his reputation has already been tarnished enough as it is,” we’re told. “With his music career not being as successful as it once was, Justin had hoped to concentrate more on acting. But if he is seen as the main villain in the Britney movie, then casting directors might think twice about putting him in a project.”
And Jessica, 42, who shares sons Silas, nine, and Phineas, four, with the singer, is said to be equally concerned. Our source adds, “Jessica has a really squeaky-clean image in Hollywood. She’s also a very devoted wife and has stuck with Justin through everything – from cheating allegations to his recent arrest – and she’s feeling really annoyed that he is having to go through yet another stressful situation where his character has been called into question.
“Justin’s really upset about it and Jessica is trying her best to console him, but deep down she knows the outcome of this isn’t going to be good.”
