She may be in a loving marriage with Rio, her husband of five years, but Kate Ferdinand has admitted that she still struggles with insecurities around the relationship.
The former TOWIE star, 33, has been in a relationship with retired footballer Rio, 46, since 2016, and has gone on to welcome son Cree, four, and daughter Shae, one, with him since they tied the knot in 2019.
Speaking on her podcast, Kate admitted, ‘My dad’s in my life now, but he wasn’t so much when I was younger. Now, when Rio is so loving to me, I don’t know how to handle it sometimes, because I’m not used to a man treating me like this.’

Kate – who’s helped raise Rio’s kids Lorenz, 18, Tate, 16, and Tia, 14, from his marriage with late wife Rebecca Ellison – added, ‘Maybe I don’t respond the way I should sometimes because I’m just like, “Wow, I don’t know what this feels like”.’
And a source tells us that Kate – who heat previously reported is eyeing up a move to Dubai with her blended family – worries her doubts will one day drive Rio away.
We’re told, ‘Kate still feels those deep insecurities from her upbringing, even in her marriage. Although she knows how much Rio loves her and how happy they are as a family, she is always convinced it’s all going to fall apart at some point and she will lose him. It’s all in her head and Rio does his best to reassure her, but it’s hard for her to ignore those feelings.’

Our source adds that Kate’s insecurities have reared their head after a traumatic time, as Rio was recently rushed to hospital with a virus that had him fearing it was ‘lights out’.
‘Kate hates it when things don’t go to plan and she has no control,’ the source adds. ‘It makes her get worked up about the smallest things.
‘Despite Rio constantly showing how much he and the kids love her, there are doubts that she’s not enough. She feels so lucky that she found Rio and has the family life she always dreamed of, but she is just scared somebody will take it away.’
