We might be expecting a baby boom in around nine months or so, but one couple who won’t be partaking are the Ferdinands. According to a source close to Kate and Rio Ferdinand, they’ve put baby plans on hold for now.
“They both want a baby together and the kids are desperate for a brother or sister, but Rio is more keen at the moment than Kate,” an insider tells heat.
“He is quite a bit older than her and he doesn’t want to wait too long, but she feels she has a bit more time, as she’s only 28. She’s told him they will have a baby eventually, but these things can’t be rushed. She doesn’t want to put any pressure on herself.”

It's safe to say that Kate gets on with Rio's family
The couple married last September in a lavish ceremony in Turkey, and have since been enjoying life as a family together with Rio’s three kids – Lorenz, 13, Tate, 11, and nine-year-old daughter Tia. And we’re told another passion of theirs has also managed to overtake baby plans.
“Since launching their Ferdinand Fitness project during lockdown, things have really started to take off and it’s something they want to explore more,” we’re told. “Kate loves exercise and being healthy and this is a perfect opportunity for her to further develop her fitness career.”
Kate, 28, and former footballer Rio, 41, often work out together from their own personal gym, but since the country has been on lockdown, they have been sharing their fitness routines with fans. And our source explains, “Having a baby right now wouldn’t really fit into that, although they would love it if it happened.”
Speaking on a podcast a couple of months ago, Kate said, “[Having a baby] will bring us all together, tighter. It’s weird, because when we’re in the house and it’s us five, I feel like their mum... I just feel like they’re my children. It’s a normal family.”
And you can bet your dumbbells Kate is already thinking about the pregnancy workouts she can share. “Kate feels that once she’s established herself more, she can become a poster girl for being healthy and exercising while pregnant,” our source adds. “She and Rio have had a few discussions about it – she just wants to do things in her own time. But they will all be delighted whenever it happens.”
