By her own admission, she had a tough time with the birth of son Cree in 2020, really struggling during the first few weeks. So, it’s perfectly understandable that Kate Ferdinand would say she would be “mad” to think about adding to her family.
The former TOWIE star is also stepmum to husband Rio’s three children, Lorenz, 16, Tate, 14, and 11-year-old Tia, from his first marriage to late his wife Rebecca, so she certainly has her hands full. But, we’re told, she’s starting to feel broody again and would love for 18-month-old Cree to have a sibling close in age. But she’s just not sure she’s ready.
“Kate really struggled with having a newborn,” our source says.
“But as Cree and the other kids get older, she’s starting to miss that baby phase, and if she does have another child, she doesn’t want there to be huge age gap. But, at the same time, she feels like she’s just getting her life back, she’s busy with work – she’s got her Blended podcast about stepfamilies – and she’s feeling fitter than ever after getting back into regular exercise. She wants to enjoy the summer and then see how she and Rio feel about conceiving later this year.”
Kate, who turned 31 last week, recently admitted that she was thinking about another addition to the Ferdinand brood, and is amazed at how well she’s coping with four kids.
“I have four children, it’s quite hectic. I would never say never, but right now we are happy,” she said. “I’m stronger than I thought I was. It takes patience, understanding and strength to raise four children. But I love it so much – I wouldn’t change it for anything.”
While we’re told Kate and Rio, 43, are both hands-on parents, the older kids help out a lot with Cree, especially Tia, who would love another sibling.
“Kate was surprised at how well the older kids took to Cree and how much they help out,” our source explains.
“Tia is like another mum to him, and Cree is obsessed with her. Before he was born, Tia was desperate for Kate to have a girl, as she really wanted a sister, and she would still love Kate and her dad to have a little girl.
“They all say it would be nice to complete the family, and for Kate and Tia not to be outnumbered by boys and football!”
