They say the eighth time’s the charm, so big congratulations to Katie Price, who last week revealed she was engaged to her boyfriend of ten months Carl Woods – making him lucky fiancé number eight. Posting on Instagram, the ex-glamour model showed off her brand-new ring and told fans, “I said yes!”
But while the couple’s engagement is no big surprise – she’s been referring to herself as Mrs Woods since they got together last June, and they’ve also revealed they’re trying for a baby – insiders tell us that Katie was the one who made the proposal happen.
Apparently, her insecurities, plus her mum’s ongoing ill health, have made her more convinced than ever that saying “I do” yet again will guarantee her that ever-elusive happy ending.
“Katie’s been desperate for a proposal for months and she’s finally got what she wanted,” says an insider close to the mum of five, who excitedly claimed she was “free” in early March, after finalising her divorce from her third ex-husband, Kieran Hayler.
“Of course, Carl loves her and it’s not like she insisted on it, but she can be very persuasive. She told him a while back that she wants this relationship to be her ‘last stop’, and she just doesn’t want to lose him. This relationship saved her from the brink of despair when she was feeling really low and depressed, and she never wants to go back to that dark place. He’s reassured her he’s all in and this proves it to her.”

One of Katie's lowest-profile relationships, she was engaged to Gladiators star Ace - real name Warren Furman – from 1997. The 47 year old was engaged to Jordan for two years, presenting her with a £3,500 diamond ring before they split in 1999.

Katie’s dream is to have just her mum there, plus her five kids [Harvey, 18, Junior, 15, Princess, 13, Jett, seven, and Bunny, six], plus a few more family members – but for that to happen, she feels she’s got to act quickly.”

News of Katie and 31-year-old Carl’s happy betrothal sparked a wave of well-wishes, but there was one ex-husband in the mix who wasn’t so impressed. Kieran – who’s dad to Jett and Bunny – said in an interview a day after the news, “[My children] need somebody that is there all the time and not a different partner every few months. I have to hope that Carl will be the last one.”
He also slammed his ex for claiming they were divorced, arguing, “We are technically still married. It went to court, but it hasn’t been finalised yet.”
But Kieran’s words were water off a duck’s back for the bride-to-be, who also announced last week she’s appearing on Celebrity MasterChef. Katie bit back at her ex on Instagram, writing, “Stop trying to use me for attention. You’re not famous, you are a nobody!”
