Having a baby while going through a global pandemic really does scupper wedding plans, but it seems Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are fed up with waiting. We’re told they’re ready to say “I do”, and are keen to make their vows in a small ceremony on the beach in Santa Barbara, California, near their home.

“They want something unshowy and very socially conscious to reflect where they are today,” an insider close to the couple tells heat. “Somehow, the idea of a big do just feels wrong. They love each other and are committed, and that’s what matters. They both agree that their daughter should be a part of the ceremony, which will be attended by family and just a handful of friends.”

And while the couple – who welcomed baby Daisy last summer – originally planned to get hitched in Japan, they’re apparently happy to keep things low-key.

“Katy and Orlando have always said they don’t need a piece of paper to be happy, but they definitely want to make it happen for a variety of reasons,” we’re told.

“First off, it’ll be a beautiful event for their loved ones and Daisy, of course. She will be able to look back at the photos in years to come and see how her parents fell even further in love after she came into their lives. Katy and Orlando are closer now than they’ve ever been – parenthood has taken them to a whole new level of trust and appreciating one another as soul mates. This will be a chance for them to celebrate their love and formalise their lives together.”
