She’s had a fair few weddings over the years – three to be exact – each one more lavish than the last. But Kim Kardashian has had enough of saying “I do”. Instead, she’s all about saying “I don’t” – and with her and Kanye’s West’s divorce battle looming large, she’s decided to commemorate the occasion by throwing one almighty party.
And can you blame her? By all accounts, it has been a challenging time for the star, who opened up last year about the struggles she’s faced supporting Kanye. Add to that the fact that the usual run of family bashes has been limited by coronavirus, and it’s no surprise that she’s ready to put on her Louboutins and have a ball.
“The past few months have been an emotional horror show for Kim,” says an insider close to the reality superstar, who hasn’t spoken publicly about her and Kanye’s divorce – despite it being widely reported that she’s being represented by LA power attorney Laura Wasser.
“Her disintegrating marriage has been hanging over her like a dark cloud. Sure, she’s treated herself to some fun trips and hangouts with friends [including her 40th birthday party on a private island in October], but the conversation would inevitably turn to Kanye and when she was finally going to rip off the plaster. After all the misery and stress, she figures she deserves to indulge in some serious R&R.”
Kim and Kanye’s six-year marriage was knocked sideways last year, as Kanye (who has bipolar disorder and reportedly shuns medication) seemed to go through difficulties, even calling Kim and mum Kris Jenner “white supremacists” in one Twitter post. He also publicly mentioned that he and Kim had considered having an abortion while she was pregnant with their eldest daughter North, seven.

Real Kim fans will actually know that she first got married in 2000 when she was just 19 years old. She eloped with then boyfriend Damon Thomas - who is 10 years older than her – but they didn't last and split in 2003. Kim has since said that she was actually on ecstasy during their wedding.

Other than her dad defending OJ Simpson and being pals with Paris Hilton, Kim was mainly known (back in the 00s) for her (leaked) sex tape with Ray J. The pair started dating before Kim had officially divorced Damon and were together on/off until 2007 - shortly before KUWTK began.

Kim and Nick Cannon dated between 2006 and 2007 but they split because the KUWTK star allegedly lied to him about her sex tape. "This was my issue. We talked about this tape… And she told me there was no tape," he said on The Howard Stern Show. "If she might have been honest with me I might have tried to hold her down and be like 'That was before me' because she is a great girl. She's actually one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. But the fact that she lied and told me that there was no tape?"

If you watch KUWTK it's quite obvious why Kim and Kris didn't last – because they were completely different. Nevertheless we did see the moment they got engaged and thanks to Kris we got to see the iconic moment Kim lost her diamond earring in the ocean. The pair tied the knot in 2011 but after 72 days and crying on her reality show, they called it quits.

Kim and Kanye were friends for years but following her split from Kris Humpheries they grew closer, started dating, welcomed North West and in 2014 they got married. They've also welcomed Saint, Chicago and Psalm into the world.
In July, Kim – who also shares Saint, five, Chicago, two, and one-year-old Psalm with Kanye – took the unprecedented step of opening up about his mental health, revealing, “Those that understand mental illness or even compulsive behaviour know that the family is powerless unless the member is a minor.” We’re told that although Kim has compassion and love for Kanye, she just can’t sustain her marriage to him.
Last week, amid talk of ongoing divorce negotiations, Kim posted a photo of herself sunbathing in a bikini, alongside the caption, “This is more than life... this is paradise.” According to our insider, she wants the world to know she’s ready to move on and celebrate the positives of her new-found independence the only way she knows how – with a massive blowout.

“She’s looking at hiring out a luxury resort, quite possibly a private island, where she can drink cocktails and dance,” says our source. “The kids will come, too, but everyone wants Kim to indulge in some pampering and just relax. Of course, it will make for great TV, too, so they’ll be filming everything for her new reality show. Kim just feels this huge sense of positivity and freedom – she’s finally excited about the future.”
The source adds, “Of course, the kids are a priority, but she’s also focused on herself. She figures they will all benefit from her positive energy rubbing off on them.”
