They’ve enjoyed a series of outings during the awards season, putting on loved-up displays at the Golden Globes, BAFTAs and Oscars. But Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet’s tennis date at the Indian Wells Open in California earlier this month seemed to be a marked contrast.
Kylie’s attempts to divert Timothée’s attention from the match failed to work, with the actor keeping his eyes firmly on the action, even as she cupped his face, showered him with kisses and, er, rubbed his tummy. ‘He’s just not into you,’ one commenter said, while another added, ‘He looked uncomfortable. He doesn’t even look interested.’
Ouch.
Now, a source tells heat, that the award-winning actor’s reluctance to do PDAs is because the 29 year old is starting to panic that his relationship with Kylie, 27, may impact his career, with pals warning he needs to stop flaunting their romance.
‘Timothée’s behaviour has changed dramatically since the Oscars,’ says our insider. ‘Over the last couple of weeks, he’s pulled back a lot and has been avoiding going out in public with Kylie, which is really upsetting for her.’
The source continues, ‘While he’s not said anything directly, she knows he’s had a lot of people whispering about the potential damage their relationship could cause his career. Kylie is in panic mode – she’s terrified he’s going to break up with her.’
The couple, who started dating in January 2023, kept their relationship private until they made their public debut at the Golden Globes in 2024. Despite being together for two years, Kylie, who is mum to daughter Stormi, seven, and son Aire, three, with ex-boyfriend Travis Scott, and Timothée – whose exes include Madonna’s daughter Lourdes and Lily-Rose Depp – have remained relatively low-key. While they have attended public events together, they have yet to go red-carpet official and have not spoken about each other in interviews.
However, while there are worries from Timothée’s camp, we’re told momager Kris Jenner is intent on bringing him into the family fold, which Kylie is more than up for.
‘Kris has always dreamed of one of her children dating one of Hollywood’s hottest stars, and there’s no way she’s going to let this romance slip away without a fight,’ our insider says.
‘While Kylie would never usually allow Kris to interfere in her personal life, right now, she’s trying to hold onto a man who she wants a future with. She’s willing to let her mum do whatever she can to help her from losing the love of her life.’
