According to Forbes, Kylie Jenner is the world's youngest self-made billionaire - for a second year running. The make-up mogul snatched the coveted title from Facebook giant Mark Zuckerberg last year, who hit the target when he was 23. (And since first winning the title, the make-up mogul has sold 51% of her Kylie Cosmetics brand to beauty brand Coty Inc. for $600 million.)
But while Kylie - the youngest and richest of the Kardashian-Jenners - is undoubtedly rolling in the money, the news raised more than a few eyebrows last year, with many asking: how is the youngest member of the Kardashian clan ‘self-made’?
In fact, the provocative term caused such a stir that dictionary Merriam-Webster reported look-ups of ‘self-made’ spiked a whopping 5,300% when the news was announced. (According to the site, the definition of the term is 'made such by one's own actions;_especially_having achieved success or prominence by one's own efforts.')

However, this year the magazine has responded to the controversy, writing that Kylie is 'self-made' because 'despite a lot of help from her famous family, she didn’t inherit her business—she built it'.
They also reveal that she is one of just 2,095 people in the world with a fortune of ten digits, since she started her make-up line in 2015 by selling $29 lipstick kits. 'I didn’t expect anything,' Kylie previously told Forbes. 'I did not foresee the future. But [the recognition] feels really good. That’s a nice pat on the back.'
