They shockingly revealed they were having a baby AND had split up, but if you thought Laura Anderson and Gary Lucy’s relationship couldn’t get any more dramatic, you’d be wrong.

After Gary gave a tell-all interview about the end of their romance, a furious Laura retaliated as only a celebrity can – on Instagram – by editing her post announcing her pregnancy to read “Baby Anderson” instead of “Baby Lucy”. Ouch.

Now an insider tells heat that, although Laura is struggling to stay civil with Gary, she would never cut him out of their child’s life. “Laura wants the baby to have a relationship with its dad and there’s no way she would ever deny Gary that,” says the source. “She knows he’s a great dad to his other kids, but as a couple they just weren’t working. If there was no baby involved, they probably wouldn’t still be in contact.”

Last week, Gary, 41, told The Sun that he was “devastated” Laura had broken up with him at the start of February and confirmed rumours that they’d split after rows over his refusal to move to her native Scotland. The former Hollyoaks actor – who lives in Essex – explained, “I have four kids [India, 17, Elvis, 11, Sadie, seven, and Theodore, four, who he shares with his ex-wife] and all the things that go along with that, so it’s very difficult – if not impossible – to uproot at this time.”

Later in the chat, Gary also hinted that he had concerns about the pregnancy news, saying, “I know Laura was over the moon. However, things aren’t as I’d have loved them to be.”

Prior to meeting Gary on Celebs Go Dating last September, Laura, 33, had begun IVF with her on/off boyfriend of five years Dane Bowers. But after their split in August 2022, her baby dreams were shattered.

In retaliation to Gary’s comments, Laura not only changed her baby’s surname on her Instagram post, she also hit out at his claims over why they split, saying, “Our plan was for me to move to Essex... I never asked or expected Gary to move to Scotland.”

Our source adds, "Laura is fully prepared to be a single mum and feels she’ll be raising this baby more or less on her own, so wants the child to have her surname. Laura had wanted to remain on good terms and co-parent with Gary, but things have turned a bit sour between them."
