After an incredibly successful year Lewis Capaldi cleaned up at this year’s BRITs on Tuesday, nabbing Best New Artist and Best Song, and blew us all away with a show-stopping performance of Someone You Loved.
Given that it was a swanky awards bash, there was plenty of booze flowing and Lewis took full advantage of the celebrations as he swigged from a bottle on stage while collecting his gongs.
His boozing caused a stir with some fans though, with one viewer criticising the 23-year-old singer for promoting an “unhealthy relationship” with alcohol.
Scottish activist Leah Franchetti shared a photo of Lewis holding a bottle of Buckfast wine while collecting one of his awards and wrote, “We have an unhealthy relationship with alcohol in Scotland. This doesn’t help.”
It wasn’t long before Lewis hit back at the criticism with his trademark tongue-in-cheek sense of humour, writing, “Imagine having a drink on my first night off in months after winning two Brit awards, can you believe it?!”
Well, that certainly told the trolls.

Lewis made a cheeky dig at his ex, Love Island’s Paige Turley, while accepting the award for Best Song after it was revealed his hit single Someone You Loved isn’t actually about her, but instead inspired by his late grandmother.
“It’s actually written about my grandmother who has very, very sadly passed away, and who I hope to God ITV don’t contact [to] ask to take part in a reality dating show,” he said on stage.

Elsewhere at the BRITS, Best Album winner Dave called out, well, pretty much everyone in a powerful performance of his song Black.
He blasted out the tabloid media's treatment of Meghan Markle, branded Boris Johnson a "racist" and paid tribute to Jack Merritt who died in a terror attack last year.
He rapped, "It is racist, whether or not it feels racist / The truth is our Prime Minister is a real racist. They say you should be grateful we’re the least racist, I say the least racist is still racist.
"And if somebody hasn’t said it / Equality is a right, it doesn’t deserve credit / If you don’t wanna get it, then you’re never gonna get it / How the news treats Kate versus how they’re treating Meghan."
