After reportedly splitting from her husband of four years last month, Lily Allen has hinted at plans of turning her heartbreak into new music. The singer, 39, and Stranger Things actor David Harbour, 49, have reportedly called it quits, and while Lily is said to be devastated, the silver lining could be an Adele-type break-up album.
Chatting to her co-host and childhood friend Miquita Oliver, 40, on their podcast Miss Me?, Lily revealed, ‘I'm doing a little bit of work on myself in this beginning period of the year, then I'm going to do some more writing… hopefully get an album out by the end of the year.' This new music would be her first release since her 2018 studio album, No Shame, which she used as a creative outlet during her first divorce from building company owner Sam Cooper. Back in April, Lily also revealed on an episode of her podcast that she had been working on music while staying in Nashville.
Lily and David tied the knot in Las Vegas in 2020, and the pair have spent the last few years living in an enviable Brooklyn brownstone with her two daughters, Ethel, 13, and Marnie, 12, from her first marriage. However, alarm bells began ringing for fans back in December when Lily’s profile was spotted on the popular dating site Raya with a bio that read ‘looking for someone to start couples’ therapy with’. The couple met on the app back in 2019, and it’s been alleged Lily was using it to see if David’s account had been reactivated, as it was recently reported that he’d been active again for over a month.
This isn’t the first time there’s been a rumoured split between the pair. Lily has been spotted numerous times without her engagement ring and hasn’t been seen publicly with her husband since October last year. She also stated on her podcast that she was ‘bored of men’, and reportedly spent Christmas without David as she was flying to London and then to Kenya during the festive period. While neither Lily nor David have directly addressed the rumours that their relationship has ended, Lily last week admitted on her podcast to struggling with loneliness.
