Ever since their shock split over three years ago, rumours have been rife that Louise and Jamie Redknapp could be about to give their marriage another go. As recently as this June, Louise herself admitted that the couple’s sons – Charley, 16, and 11-year-old Beau – were desperate for them to get back together, and insiders had said that she was keen to try again after reconnecting during lockdown.
However, as she enjoyed a holiday in Ibiza with her sons and friends, the 45-year-old singer was dealt a huge blow, as it was revealed that Jamie is now in a relationship with Swedish model Frida Andersson-Lourie – news that, we’re told, has hit Louise hard.
“She feels played by Jamie. She thinks he’s made her look like a fool,” says our insider. “It was only months ago they were talking about getting back together and now he’s seeing someone else. Louise can’t help but feel like she’s wasted more of her time on him, after years of trying to make the marriage work – and now he just moves on. She can’t believe he’s done this to her.”
The source continues, “She was trying to put on a brave face and let her hair down while she was in Ibiza. She was with the boys and other family members, but she managed to have some nights out with her mates, too. They took her to some bars for a few drinks. She was determined to look and feel good, so that people wouldn’t feel sorry for her.”
According to reports, Jamie, 47, met 37-year-old Frida – who has four children with her ex-husband, American hedge fund tycoon Jonathan Lourie, 58 – through mutual friends earlier this summer and they really hit it off. Soon after first pictures of them together were published, Jamie unfollowed Louise on Instagram. Whether that’s because he’s sending her a message that the past is the past, or whether it’s because – as heat revealed last week – of clashes with Louise over her plans for a tell-all book, is unclear.
“Jamie feels ready to move on from his marriage to Louise and is happy to be doing it with someone who also has kids and is financially secure,” an insider said. “It’s early days for Jamie and Frida, but they have grown close and are really enjoying spending time together when they can. Anyone who knows Jamie knows that his sons are his main priority and mean everything to him, so he likes that Frida’s a parent. She’s also a homebody and into fitness, like he is.”
Jamie and Louise shocked the showbiz world when they announced they were splitting after 19 years of marriage in June 2017. It was Louise’s decision to end the marriage following her stint on Strictly Come Dancing in 2016 – which, she said, had “switched a light back on” after spending two decades “pleasing everyone, and thinking I should always do the right thing by staying at home, looking after my kids and my husband”. However, she later admitted she had handled the situation badly and maybe could have done things differently.

“It’s hard for her, because inevitably she is going to compare herself to Frida, who is younger and a model – but her friends have been really good at boosting her confidence and saying she looks amazing. Lou really needs that kind of support right now. Lockdown drove her crazy and seeing Jamie move on like this has made things worse. She’s desperate to move on and show that she’s just as happy and over him – even though inside she’s admitted it feels as though her heart has been broken all over again.”

Despite her upset, Louise looked like she was determined to enjoy her holiday (especially as she’s had to quarantine for two weeks after getting back). The source adds that she enjoyed a bit of male attention out there, too, and wants to get back on the dating scene now she’s home.
“Louise was so glad she wasn’t in the UK when all the news about Jamie and Frida came out,” the insider says. “She was chatted up a few times in Ibiza, which isn’t surprising considering she’s gorgeous and has never struggled to attract men – and now she wants Jamie to see what he’s missing. She wants to put herself out there again and meet someone, and if it’s seen as a revenge romance, so be it. She’s been messaging one record exec from her past and has also been asking friends to set her up. Now that it’s clear Jamie has firmly shut the door on any hopes of rekindling their relationship, she doesn’t want to waste any more time.”
The source adds, “She’s always been reluctant about dating in the past, but now she’s ready to find love again. It’s what she deserves.”
