Love Island's Malin Andersson has spoken out about her experiences with an eating disorder in a candid Instagram post.

She shared her story with her thousands of her followers in the hope to encourage them to have body confidence as well as urging them to open up about their struggles.

Malin shared a picture of her in a bikini, walking up a set of stairs, with the caption, "Each step I have taken to overcome my eating disorders have become a step to freedom."

"I’ve gone from taking my weighing scales to every destination I flew to when I was cabin crew (literally can you imagine how heavy my case was each time😩) trying to cover my cellulite with makeup (never worked).

"Always wearing a sarong when on holiday (even when super hot), sitting oddly so my cellulite would appear ‘less’ (even if I was uncomfortable), thinking lipo would be the way forward (it wasn’t)."

Malin's latest posts comes after she shared a harrowing photo of bruises on her arm and opened up about violent relationships in order to raise awareness for National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

It is not known when the photo was taken or who caused the bruises.

She wrote, “TRIGGER WARNING So I wanted to share this post with you all as it’s NATIONAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH. It’s all a bit raw for me but I wanted to raise awareness for domestic abuse.

“I just want to post traits and warning signs so you can recognise them before it's too late. I will open up fully and share my story once I come to terms with it all and I hope you understand.

“Domestic violence affects millions, both women and men, of every race, religion, culture and status. It's not just punches and black eyes; it's yelling, humiliation, stalking, manipulation, coercion, threats and isolation.

“It's stealing a paycheck, keeping tabs online, non-stop texting, constant use of the silent treatment, or calling someone stupid so often they believe it."
