The devastating wildfires in California have affected a number of celebrities including, Gerard Butler, Lady Gaga, Will Smith and many of the Kardashians/Jenners, as well as Louis Tomlinson's son Freddie. Now, Miley Cyrus and her boyfriend Liam Hemsworth have shared a heartbreaking photo of the remains of their house, whilst also donating $500,000 towards rebuilding the city where their house once stood.
On Tuesday, Liam posted a photo of their house's charred remains with a burnt 'LOVE' sign saying, 'It’s been a heartbreaking few days. This is what’s left of my house. Love. Many people in Malibu and surrounding areas in California have lost their homes also and my heart goes out to everyone who was affected by these fires.'
He continued, 'I spent the day in Malibu yesterday and it was amazing to see the community pulling together to help each other out in any way they can. Malibu is a strong community and this event is only going to make it stronger. Thankful for the all the great local guys that helped keep smaller fires out around my property. I love u guys. I love you Malibu. Thank you to all the hero firefighters around California. It’s going to be a journey to rebuild. Stay strong all. To help/donate visit @malibufoundation and @happyhippiefdn'.
His girlfriend Miley, also shared a before and after photo of the original house, with the sign intact.
It has now emerged that through her Happy Hippie Foundation - a nonprofit organisation - Miley has donated $500,000 towards rebuilding the Californian town.
Metro.co.uk is reporting that a rep for the 'Malibu' singer said, "Miley and Liam lost their home but are very grateful to be safe along with their animals! Their community and state are very special to them and they want to give back to the place that has created so many beautiful memories for themselves and others."
The statement continued, "These funds will be used for those in financial need, emergency relief assistance, community rebuilding, wildfire prevention and climate change resilience."
After taking some time out from music, Miley returned last year with her comeback single, 'Malibu', written about the place where she lived. It was very different to her old music, with the singer saying her music is "a reflection of who she is at a moment in time."
Our thoughts are with all of those affected by the California wildfires.
