A newspaper in Iceland has had what we like to call an absolute bloody shocker and accidentally inferred that Ed Sheeran had died.
In a tremendous proofing error, the Morgunbladid paper had printed Ed’s photograph alongside an obituary for Svalvari Gunnari Sigurðsson, a mechanic from Sweden.
Sadly, Svavari had actually passed away at the age of 82, but 27-year-old singing sensation Ed most definitely hasn’t.
He’s still very much alive and totally dominating the music biz, tbh.
Twitter was quick to pick up on the false alarm, flagging the error with Ed.
One fan wrote: “This obituary appeared in today’s @morgunbladid (Icelandic newspaper) I think someone might be getting fired today. #rip @edsheeran”
Another notified the singer: “@edsheeran there was an obituary on @morgunbladid and a picture of you just thought you wanted to know(I can’t with this )”
While, thankfully, Ed hasn’t left us, there’s talk that he could be about to quit music for good.
After announcing his engagement to Cherry Seaborn, Ed’s hinted he will give up music to focus on starting a family.
“My ambition is going to go to zero as soon as I have kids,” he told the Daily Star.
“I’m going to be like, ‘I do not really care anymore as I have another life to take care of’.”
He also added: “It is totally understandable because you have children and your ambition shifts to be like, ‘I want to be a good father.”
At least, maybe some other guys will be in with a chance to break into the charts?
