How Rebekah Vardy plans to become the nation’s sweetheart

After making her debut on Dancing On Ice, Becky Vardy is hoping to be crowned the ITV show’s ice queen. But the 38 year old – who’s embroiled in a legal case with Coleen Rooney over the “Wagatha Christie” scandal – is also hoping to thaw our hearts.

“Becky knows there is a lot of attention on her because of what happened with Coleen, and that many people still see her as the villain in all of this,” an insider close to the mum of five tells heat. “She’s fed up with being warned by everyone to just walk away from it all, as she wants to prove her innocence. She is hoping that her turn on DOI will help her win over new fans and lead to a lot more opportunities.”

Becky is suing fellow WAG Coleen for libel after she claimed that “Rebekah Vardy’s account” had leaked stories about her to the press. The pair have been given until February to use mediation to sort out their differences and avoid a full trial. And while Becky is adamant that she has nothing to hide, she is already thinking about how she can cash in after the show.

Becky – who is married to Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy – is in talks over potential deals around filming her own reality show, a line of beauty products, and how to overhaul her image. She recently admitted that she is often mistaken for being “cold”, explaining that it’s a defence mechanism.

“I’ve got the persona of being quite cold,” she said in a recent interview. “I’ve developed a really strong resting bitch face over the years. Now I’m really trying to lose it, but it’s not easy when you’ve taught yourself to do something so well. It’s a defensive thing – not showing any vulnerability, so no one can hurt me.”

But after winning us all over with some head-bangers and pirouettes on the ice, Becky is planning to surround herself with allies.

“Becky is really excited about the year ahead and is already thinking about who will be in her inner circle,” we’re told. “She’s really been through it over the past year or so and wants this to be her time to shine. A lot of people turned on her after Coleen made her allegations, and she wants to make sure she surrounds herself with the right people. Whatever the outcome is with Coleen, she feels confident she’s going to come out on top and have the whole nation behind her.”
