In the wake of her shock split from husband Eamonn Holmes last May, Ruth Langsford has been bouncing back. As well as throwing herself into work, the Loose Women anchor has been leaning on her tight-knit support system, including the likes of Rylan Clark and Coleen Nolan, and prioritising self-care.
And with the daytime TV panellist and GB News presenter Eamonn – who has sparked engagement rumours with new partner Katie Alexander, 42 – poised to reach a divorce settlement this year, we are told that Ruth is planning to throw a big bash to mark the occasion.
‘Ruth has said “life begins after divorce” and has toasted the New Year’s exciting new opportunities and being free from Eamonn,’ our source says. ‘On the receipt of her being a free woman, she is going to throw a party. Her best pals have confirmed that she is on the up, while she’s left Eamonn spitting feathers in her wake.’
Ruth, 64, and Eamonn, 65 – who share son Jack, 22 – were married for almost 14 years when they shocked the nation with news of their separation. Their joint statement put out in late May 2024 simply read, ‘Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.’
Ruth, who was also a stepmum to Eamonn’s three children with first wife Gabrielle – Declan, 35, Rebecca, 33, and Niall, 31 – has maintained a dignified silence as her estranged husband’s new relationship grabbed headlines, but she did make a quip about the divorce process on Loose Women last year. When her co-star Mariella Frostrup said, ‘That’s a whole other subject isn’t it? How to divorce well’, Ruth joked, ‘Oh, tell me about it.’
But our source insists she is moving forward as best she can.
‘Ruth admits it’s not been without its horrible days, but her coping mechanism is getting a good blow dry, treating herself to a few facials and shopping for a new wardrobe,’ they say.
‘Ruth’s sass is definitely back. She’s ready for new adventures, and who knows, a man – if and when, it’s on her terms. For now, girls’ nights and piña coladas are filling the void. Ruth has a force field of friends – they’re her armour and they give her great advice.’
