Ruth Langsford returned to the Loose Women panel last week, fresh from a two-month hiatus following her split from husband Eamonn Holmes.
And while the presenter and her fellow panellists celebrated her comeback without mentioning her personal life, Ruth raised eyebrows among ITV viewers by sporting her wedding ring.
And just days before, Eamonn – who was married to Ruth for 14 years before they announced their shock divorce in May – wore his while presenting GB News.
While the estranged couple cited work commitments “taking their marriage in different directions” as the reason for their split, contrasting reports have alleged that Ruth was “devastated” after discovering messages from another woman on Eamonn’s laptop.
And now, a source close to Ruth, 64, and Eamonn, also 64 – who were together 27 years and have a 22-year-old son – say they are embroiled in a “ring-off”.
We’re told, “Eamonn doesn’t want to look like he’s the one to blame for the end of their marriage, so he doesn’t want to be the one to take the ring off first. He’s saying he won’t take his off if Ruth isn’t taking hers off, so when she eventually does, Eamonn will. It’s a bit of stubbornness from his side.
“For Ruth, it’s a big thing to take the ring off. It’s almost the final step of saying it’s over. In her mind, she’s still getting her head around everything and she knows that taking off the ring is a huge statement to make. Ruth isn’t going to be rushed or told when to take it off – she’ll do it when she feels strong enough.”
