With three of her own boys and fiancé Joe Swash’s son, too, Stacey Solomon has always been severely outnumbered in her family – with just her female pooch Theo to bring the girl power. But the 31 year old was overjoyed last week to announce that her fourth child – her and Joe’s second together – is a daughter.
Sharing the news with a picture of herself and Joe in coordinating pink outfits, surrounded by pink balloons, as well as a picture of her sons Zachary, 13, Leighton, nine, and Rex, one, in pink shorts – as if we hadn’t guessed it yet – she captioned the post, “Baby girl. I cannot believe I’m writing this. We are growing a little baby girl. To our darling boys, you are the best big brothers anyone could wish for, and your little sister is the luckiest girl in the world to have you all by her side. I honestly have no words. Mummy, Daddy and all of your big brothers cannot wait to meet you, little one. We love you so, so much already, darling girl.”
It’s been a hectic and dramatic week for the TV star. Just one day after her exciting baby news, Stacey travelled to Cornwall to combine a family holiday with filming for her BBC1 show Sort Your Life Out. And she was clearly in a spin at the prospect of bringing some XX chromosomes into her household, panicking that she didn’t know how to deal with girls. She told her followers, “Just saying ‘she’ sends me, I lose it… I don’t even know girls – I only know boys! We’re just so excited and so over the moon.”
A source close to Stacey tells us she isn’t planning on holding back when it comes to shopping for her precious pink bundle of joy. “Stacey was so impatient to find out the sex of the baby, and now she’s even more overexcited knowing that it’s a girl – she’s already bought so much stuff for her,” our insider reveals. “She wants her to be a total princess, and has been going overboard by ordering everything pink and girly for her and having a lot of fun with it. After only having boys, Stacey wants to go all-out with this one. She’s been picking out frilly dresses, and even a cheerleader baby costume for a fun photo shoot idea, as well as dolls and cute headbands for babies.”
While she was away in Cornwall last week, Stacey asked her followers for independent shop and boutique suggestions close to where she was staying, and just hours later, she presented her haul on Instagram, joking that Joe, 39, had looked like “Buckaroo” laden down with bags. Along with some vintage perfume bottles and a brush and mirror set, Stacey showed off a frou-frou baby set she’d got from a charity shop. “I’ve never bought anything like this in my life,” she laughed as she told fans, “Best day ever.”

Stacey said, "I'm so elated and excited. We really can't believe we've been privileged to be able to have another child. I forgot who I told and then I was like, 'Who knows this?' We felt it was important to keep it to ourselves until we felt really safe, that was first and foremost. Even when you're ready and you know it's the right time to tell people, you still think, 'Aww, I do just want it to be ours a little longer'." Joe added, "It's brilliant, I'm really chuffed – it's just nice to have the secret out. I can't wait to see what our little kid's going to look like, can you?" Getting tearful, Stacey said, "I honestly don't know what to say. It's such a massive thing and I still can't believe it's happening to us. I don't really know what to say. I'm really excited," as Joe agreed, "This child is going to tie up the family. My kid and your kids are going to feel like they're part of this big family. We're going to have such a lovely family. It's amazing news and we're really happy!"

18 of 22March 2019: Stacey reveals how Joe REALLY reacted to her pregnancy news
In an interview, Stacey revealed what Joe's initial reaction to the news she was pregnant had been. She explained, "I showed him the positive pregnancy test and he laughed, like, 'Are you joking? But I haven't seen you in ages!' So, yeah, we were both quite shocked."We were conscious that it's what we wanted, but we weren't specifically looking at a time for it to happen, so it was a really lovely surprise - he was over the moon and it was just lovely actually."Speaking out about whether she'd like to have another boy - Stacey and Joe already have three sons between them - or whether she'd like a girl, the former I'm A Celebrity! winner said that she initially thought it would be nice to have a girl before changing her mind."But then I started to worry – what if it is?" she joked. On Thursday 23rd May, Stacey and Joe welcomed a little boy into the world. Joe announced the news on Stacey's Instagram, sharing a photo of her and the baby with the most heartwarming caption.Revealing that the baby had come a little early, he wrote, 'This morning. A lot earlier than planned I watched the love of my life, bring a new life into the world. We are overwhelmed, overjoyed and apprehensive of what's to come. Mummy and baby are well and resting. 'We are so grateful for all of the love, support and positivity we've received over the last 8 months. I'm lost for words to describe how I'm feeling. So for now, I'm going to spend the next few days and the rest of my life falling more in love with these two humans. I didn't think it possible but, today I witnessed the impossible. My partner, My love, my life, you are a super human. I am forever in awe. Joe X.' [sic]

After posting on behalf of Stacey on her Instagram account, Joe then shared his own photo, posting an adorable snap of himself looking a bit teary-eyed and his kissing his boy. He wrote, 'Good morning sonxxxxx'. [sic]
22 of 22May 2019: Stacey gives her Loose Women fans an update
Ironically, Stacey's baby shower was due to take place on today's episode of Loose Women, so during the show, the ladies read out a statement from the new mum, reading, "I was so looking forward to my baby shower today. "I'm gutted I can't be there but me and baby are watching from home, which feels even more special now. Thanks so much. I love you all. The first place I'm going when I can put some normal pants on and walk properly is to the Loose Women studio."Stacey's sister Jemma also gave fans a further update, telling the Loose Women panel, "It was such a lovely birth. I was so, so, so privileged to be a part of it. It was amazing."
She also nipped into boutique baby shop JoJo Maman Bébé, snapping up two adorable pink sleepsuits for £35 and a pink bunny rabbit soft toy for £18.50 – picked out by big-brother-to-be Rex (who, as her fans know, is obsessed with his own cuddly “bun bun”). And if Stacey’s week wasn’t busy enough, she wasted no time on her return to Essex, picking out a shade of pink and getting straight to work decorating her new baby’s room.
“Stacey obviously wants her kids to be who they are, but judging by all the shopping and decoration plans, this girl won’t be a tomboy!” our source tells us. “She’s had lots of years of buying clothes for boys and is so desperate to switch things up. She wants her to be dressed to the nines for the first year, always sporting a giant pink bow or some fun girl accessory.”
Even though Stacey has expressed her panic over being a mum to a girl, she’s already looking forward to what the future holds for her and her mini-me. “As her daughter gets older, Stacey isn’t the type to be too strict, especially when it comes to getting her ears pierced or experimenting with make-up and nail varnish. She’s happy for her to do all that,” our insider says.

“This child is such a blessing for her. She wants to enjoy having a daughter and all the things that come with it. Stacey is getting ahead of herself planning a girl’s tea party for her first birthday and dressing her up as a Disney princess for Halloween. She knows her daughter is going to be spoiled because the boys are going to absolutely adore their little sister, and they’ll all be protective older brothers. Stacey feels as though she’ll be treated like a princess no matter what, so she might as well dress like one, too!”
And while some celeb parents prefer to go down a gender-neutral route, we’re told it won’t bother Stacey if she gets criticised for not doing the same. She’s not been afraid to hit back at trolls and call out “mum-shamers”, believing that parents should do what they feel is best for their kids and not to judge each other’s choices.
“She knows it might not go down well on social media, especially with those who might accuse her not being very ‘woke’, but Stacey is happy with her decision,” our source adds. “All the excitement and planning has really cheered her up and taken her mind off everything else, so she won’t be too worried about other people’s opinions. There’s nothing wrong with dressing a girl in pink.”
