Steps team up with RuPaul icon Michelle Visage on absolute BOP of a new single

Shantay, you stay

Steps and Michelle Visage - Heartbreak in this City

If you're anything like us, you'll have been obsessed with Steps' What the Future Holds album for a good few months now. It's provided the soundtrack to our wistful winter walks round the park and our spring struts down Sainsbury's throughout an otherwise-boring lockdown; and the band's latest release has a right little surprise in store.

Yep - Claire Richards, Faye Tozer, Lisa Scott-Lee, Ian 'H' Watkins and Lee Latchford-Evans have teamed up with RuPaul's Drag Race and Strictly Come Dancing ICON Michelle Visage on a brand new version of Heartbreak in This City.

And we know we bat this word around a lot, but it's a BOP and a half.

Following What the Future Holds, Something in Your Eyes and To the Beat of Your Heart (all 10/10 bangers), Steps have served us the collab we've always needed as they've invited Michelle to add vocals to their latest tune.

Speaking to Official Charts Company, Michelle explained, "As a big Steps fan, I was like, ‘Could this happen? Will this happen?’. When I got the email I was like, ‘Do you think I even need to answer that? Of course, this is a no brainer."

Steps' Faye added, "For Steps, we need something for us to have fun with as well. We’re all big fans of Michelle and we’ve all crossed paths in different ways. It feels like a proper collaboration as well. It’s nice to get somebody coming straight in at the beginning with us, and then there’s the diva of Michelle coming in at the end and like just like, come on.

"It’s like Michelle is the sixth member.”

Oh, June 21st can't come soon enough. GET US ON A DANCEFLOOR, hun.

What The Future Holds T-Shirt

Urm, hello. The official What The Future Holds tour merch is OUT and available to pre-order now.

Last year, Lisa told us the story behind Heartbreak in this City, telling heatworld, ""This one was written by one of our original Steps writers, Karl Twigg, who we worked with on One for Sorrow and Deeper Shade of Blue.

"I think this will be a fan favourite; Karl knows the classic Steps formula with those euphoric choruses and bittersweet lyrics. It's got a touch of classic Steps brought into today musically."

And the group have promised 2021's 'the year of the party'; with tickets to their November What the Future Holds tour on sale NOW. More info this way.
