After seeing the Peltz-Beckhams take centre stage in recent times – bagging modelling deals and fashion collabs, and even getting everyone talking about their “throuple” with Selena Gomez – Victoria Beckham is planning to get firmly back in the headlines. And, we’re told, she’s enlisting her famous pals to show everyone the family are still at the top of their game.
As heat has reported, the former Spice Girl, 48, has been focusing on rebuilding brand Beckham after reports of a family rift, and our source says the star is now ready to do whatever it takes to remind Brooklyn, 23, and his billionaire heiress wife Nicola, 28, just what it takes to be a true A-lister.
“Victoria isn’t sure if she’ll ever get along with Nicola, but now she’s less focused on their relationship and more interested in bolstering her brand with David, and creating a real buzz around them like they had in their heyday,” says our insider.
“She wants them to come out all guns blazing and to compete with Brooklyn and Nicola. She thinks it’s cute what they’re doing right now with their little videos for Vogue and other projects – but she wants to remind them what a power couple she and David can be.”
To get brand Beckham back in the headlines, mum-of-four Victoria will be calling in the help of her showbiz friends – as well as relying on David, 47, to bring in some new BFFs.
We’re told, “Vic wants them to be mixing with the top-tier stars in the sports industry. She’s been on at David to start networking more to get them invites to big events with other power players, such as Tom Brady and Serena Williams.”
The source adds, “She’s also said that she and David should also consider doing a big joint interview.”
Posh and Becks have long rubbed shoulders with the rich and famous – Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria, 47, is godmother to Harper, 11, and Elton John is godfather to Brooklyn and Romeo, 20. VB is also a well-respected member of the fash pack, with actresses including Zoe Saldana and Florence Pugh recently wearing her designs on the red carpet. If that weren’t flashy enough, she also counts Kim Kardashian as a pal.
Their A-list connections aren’t just confined to Hollywood – the duo have been long-time friends with Prince William and Kate Middleton, after David and William, 40, worked together on London’s bid for the 2012 Olympics, with Vic and Kate, 41, bonding over motherhood. Posh and Becks were guests at the royal couple’s wedding, and it was reported that the favour was returned last year, with a royal invite to the Peltz-Beckhams’ star-studded nuptials that was politely declined.
But while strategic socialising with their famous friends could benefit brand Beckham, our source says David’s more focussed on winning over his eldest son. “David is all for strengthening the brand, but he doesn’t like the idea of trying to compete with Brooklyn and Nicola,” we’re told.
“But if Vic’s plan could get their eldest son wanting to spend more time with his old man again, then David’s all for it.” And our source reveals the biggest reward would be bringing Brooklyn back into the family fold. “It’s not a competition, but Vic doesn’t want to feel like she’s being overtaken by her young son and his new wife,” they add.
“It’s frustrating for both Vic and David to see when they’ve worked so hard over the years. Vic wants to create a renewed excitement that will have Brooklyn wanting to spend more time with his family – and leaving Nicola no choice but to follow suit.”
