Her mum is an international fashion icon, who lives every day like she’s on the catwalk and who famously – and quite reasonably – once claimed, “I can’t concentrate in flats.” Her dad, meanwhile, brought the unisex sarong to the global stage.
As for her three older brothers, they love to strike a pose, and often turn up at the hottest FROWs with their style-conscious parents in tow. But Harper Beckham? She’s not so fussed…which, we’re told, is a sore point for mum Victoria.
According to insiders, Vic is having to face up to the fact that she’ll never have the girly girl she’d always dreamed of and, while she’s so proud of the girl Harper’s turned out to be – clever, kind and sporty – she can’t help but lament the fact that her daughter probably won’t be following in her own fashion footsteps. Yes, it seems that Harper is a bit of a tomboy.
“Vic had been hoping to turn Harper into a little fashionista,” says an insider closer to the 47-year-old designer, who colour co-ordinated all her looks with her daughter when she was born in 2011, as well as kitting her out in a parade of super-chic baby threads.
“The older Harper gets, the clearer it is that she’s just not interested. Although they are very close, Vic’s really been pining for some mother-daughter bonding time, dressing up in designer clothes and talking about fashion, but it’s just not at the top of the list of things Harper likes to do. She’s quite simple in her tastes and doesn’t have any interest in becoming a mini-diva like Suri Cruise or Blue Ivy [Katie Holmes and Beyoncé’s stylish daughters].”
Thankfully for her fashion-obsessed parents, Harper has always indulged them by getting dressed up to the nines when the occasion calls for it, but for the most part, she loves keeping it casual. Her busy after-school roster, which includes Judo, football and horseriding, as well as snowboarding on family vacays, suggests she’s following in her dad’s sporty footsteps. Then, of course, there’s her love of baking – which again aligns far more closely to David’s hobbies, than kitchen-phobic Victoria.
After having three boys, Harper was the baby girl of Victoria’s dreams and, we’re told, she really hoped she would work for her fashion empire, even though she wants Harper to follow her own dreams. “Vic had high hopes that, one day, Harper would carry the torch for her fashion label,” says our source.

“She wanted a girl for so long and always imagined things would be more girly, but she and David would never want them to change.”
But don’t feel too bad for Posh, because there’s hope for her yet in the form of her sons’ fashion-loving other halves. Both Brooklyn’s fiancée Nicola Peltz and Romeo’s girlfriend Mia Regan are VB disciples and regularly wear Vic’s threads on the red carpet, as well as accompanying her to the hottest events in town.
As for Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz, they have all landed cover shoots on major fashion magazines (most recently, Romeo posed for GQ Korea, while Cruz posed for a very racy shoot for i-D).
So, even though Harper is not a girl who’s wowed by all things sparkly, rest assured Posh’s life is still filled with fashionistas.
