The Beckham family feud is showing little sign of dying down, with new revelations and intrigue daily. As heat recently reported, Victoria is furious about how eldest son Brooklyn’s wife Nicola Peltz is treating the family and has vowed that ‘she won’t get away with it’. Now, in a fresh twist, we can reveal that Posh’s patience has finally run out, following rumours of an alliance between Nicola and Meghan Markle, particularly after it emerged that Brooklyn and his wife had hired the same lawyer as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in a bid to manage their reputation.
‘Meghan and Nicola have been getting on like a house on fire since they became friendly,’ an insider tells heat. ‘Meghan has really taken Nicola under her wing. They’ve been talking a lot and – of course – the topic of Nicola’s relationship with Victoria has cropped up. They both feel they’ve been slighted by her in different ways, so they’ve definitely bonded over that.’
The Peltz-Beckhams’ rumoured link-up with the Sussexes is a bitter pill to swallow for Victoria, who along with husband David, is said to have fallen out with Harry and Meghan a number of years ago after the duchess reportedly accused the former Spice Girl of leaking stories about her. Our insider says, ‘Vic is well aware of how well Nicola and Meghan have been getting on recently. It’s more than a little annoying, but mostly she finds the whole situation quite sad. She’s not going to take the bait – but if they want a war, she’s ready to fight back hard. She won’t tolerate their games, but ultimately, she’s more concerned about rebuilding her relationship with Brooklyn.’
Nicola, 30, and Meghan, 43 – along with their respective husbands, Brooklyn and Prince Harry – are understood to have become friendly after meeting at an ‘intimate’ dinner party in Montecito, California, last month. The pair reportedly exchanged numbers at the gathering, hosted by Paramount Pictures CEO Brian Robbins and his wife Tracy.
While relations between Brooklyn and Nicola and the rest of his family have been strained in the past, the rumoured rift reached new depths last month, after Brooklyn, 26, and Nicola were no-shows at his dad David’s 50th birthday celebrations. Since then, tensions have escalated to the point where the family appear to be completely split. Brooklyn’s brothers – Romeo, 22, and Cruz, 20 – seem firmly in their parents’ camp, posting messages that appear to side with David and Victoria, who also share daughter Harper, 13.
The roots of the fallout allegedly date back to Brooklyn and Nicola’s 2022 wedding when the bride chose to wear a Valentino wedding dress instead of a VB design, with recent reports suggestion relations worsened further after incidents on the big day. Nicola was apparently reduced to tears after Victoria ‘hijacked’ the first dance with her son, moments after singer Marc Anthony declared VB to be ‘the most beautiful woman in the room’.
A source said Nicola allegedly ‘felt that Victoria ruined her wedding and couldn’t understand why’, adding, ‘Nicola felt like Victoria did this on purpose, when she knew it was a pre-planned romantic dance meant for Brooklyn and Nicola.’
Romeo’s relationship with Kim Turnbull – who was rumoured to have dated Brooklyn when they were teens, although this has been denied – was thought to be a factor in round two of the feud, with the Peltz-Beckhams said to be refusing to be in the same room as her. Sources close the Beckhams then counter-claimed that the Kim story was something leaked by Nicola’s camp as an excuse for their no-show at David’s birthday. In an ironic twist, it was announced last week that Romeo and Kim had spilt after things ‘fizzled out’.
Brooklyn and Nicola broke their silence last week, putting on a united front in a joint interview. Tellingly, Nicola spoke warmly of her parents – American billionaire Nelson and former fashion model Claudia – numerous times in the chat with US Glamour, while Brooklyn only mentioned David and Victoria, 51, once. Notably, in the photos, his ‘Mama’s boy’ chest-tattoo tribute to his mum has been partly obscured by new ink of a bouquet of flowers.
Nicola also used the interview to gush about her beau. ‘My parents always said, “When you meet the right person, you’ll just know”,’ she said, adding, ‘As a kid I was like, “What does that even mean?” But it’s real. It’s this calm feeling, a sense of safety that takes over your whole body. I’d never felt that before.’ She also revealed how her parents have offered their unwavering support for the pair and spoke of their ‘intense’ wedding. In contrast, Brooklyn’s sole mention of his famous family was in relation to his tattoos.
Now with the feud raging on, Brooklyn and Nicola have hired UK lawyer Jenny Afia to help them with their ‘reputation management’. Jenny previously represented Meghan in her privacy and copyright infringement case against a newspaper publisher. Our source says that the Beckham family rift was what really gave the two women common ground. ‘Meghan still feels deeply hurt by Victoria and David’s behaviour. They used to be close, they even invited them to their wedding, but now the Beckhams have chosen to distance themselves, which is so upsetting,’ we’re told. ‘As hurt as Meghan is, you can times that by ten for Nicola. She has Meghan’s full support and backing.’
Meanwhile, Victoria and David have maintained a dignified silence, choosing to instead throw themselves into work projects. VB promoted her fashion line in New York, while David was recognised as one of Time’s 100 most influential leaders in philanthropy. And shortly after he was seen hobnobbing with King Charles and Queen Camilla at the Chelsea Flower Show (where they revealed they’d sent him a 50th birthday gift), it was reported he was set to be awarded a knighthood in the King’s birthday honours list.
VB has also been busy filming her upcoming Netflix documentary – in which she’s rumoured to be addressing the feud.
Our insider says, ‘At the end of the day, Vic is 100% secure in herself. Nicola and Meghan can scheme all they want. She knows she’s a powerful player in her own right. Her and David’s stock has never been higher – business is booming and she can’t believe they’re finally going to be a Sir and Lady. What can Nicola and Meghan possibly do to ruin that?
